๐Ÿ›‘ STOP! ๐Ÿ›‘

Before you light that bonfire or pile burn ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’ Fire permits are a REQUIREMENT ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire safety for people living with dementia

For people living with dementia, staying safe at home is about finding the right balance between independence and protection.

Simple fire safety measures - like working smoke alarms, clear exit paths, and safer cooking practices can help reduce risk while supporting confidence and freedom in the home.

This March, weโ€™re encouraging families and carers to start the conversation about tailored fire safety solutions and Home Fire Safety Visits.

March is Seniors Fire Safety Month ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This month, Fire and Rescue NSW is focusing on senior members of our community, recognising the increased fire risk many older people face due to mobility, health, or sensory challenges.

Seniors Fire Safety Month is about education, preparedness, and strengthening community connections.

Weโ€™re working to ensure older residents feel confident, informed, and supported when it comes to fire safety in their homes.

A key part of this initiative is promoting our FREE Home Fire Safety Visits, where firefighters provide tailored advice, check smoke alarms, and help identify practical solutions to reduce fire risk.

If you, a family member, neighbour, or friend could benefit from a Home Fire Safety Visit, we encourage you to reach out either via the website: https://www.fire.nsw.gov.au/fire-safety/home-fire-safety/safety-visits or give your local Fire + Rescue NSW Station a call. The Yass 511 Station number is 6229 6711.

Together, we can help keep our senior community safe.
