Commander CTF 151, Capt Eacock RN, recently visited Col Djama of the Djibouti Navy and Cdr Aoki of 海上自衛隊 JS TAKANAMI in Djibouti. 🇬🇧 🇩🇯 🇯🇵

🌊 The three Commanders lead organisations which all work towards the same mission: countering piracy and other illegal activity in and around the Gulf of Aden, a notorious stretch of water for such action.

🤝 Ensuring maritime security and protecting the freedom of navigation is a top priority for all. The seniors discussed the ongoing strengthening of relations between CMF and their organisations as well as how they can continue the good work in times of increased nefarious activity.

Two task forces, one mission. ☝️

Combined Maritime Forces CTF 151 and European Union Naval Force - Operation Atalanta (CTF 465) 🇪🇺 share a common purpose: ensuring maritime security and freedom of navigation for all in the Gulf of Aden and off the Horn of Africa.

🌊 Following a combined counter-piracy serial, the crews of 대한민국 해군 Republic Of Korea Navy ROKS Wang Geon and Armada ESPS Numancia came together - three flags, two navies, one team.

Security in the maritime doesn’t just happen, it takes dedication and a multi-agency approach. 🤝

🤝 Working seamlessly side by side.

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force JS Yuudachi 🇯🇵 and Armada ship CANARIAS 🇪🇸 conduct a PASSEX while deployed on counter piracy missions in and around the Gulf of Aden.

The two ships are working for CMF and European Union Naval Force - Operation Atalanta 🇪🇺 respectively, essential partner organisations in countering the illicit activities of non-state actors at sea.

Conducting manoeuvres like this in close quarters helps crews strengthen their understanding of each others procedures, tests communication and helps practise cooperation for when the ships target suspect vessels for real.
