The Dementia Park is coming along nicely! Oh my goodness is it ever beautiful! What a space! Can't wait for this to be complete right here beside GFLS this September.
Congratulations on such a wonderful space!

Canada’s first dementia-inclusive park is scheduled to open in Calgary this fall, according to Parks Foundation Calgary.

The Martin Family Legacy Garden, located within Southview Park in southeast Calgary, is scheduled to open Sept. 21, 2026.

The park will feature sensory gardens, wide and colour-coded pathways, flat terrain, additional signage, shaded seating and a children’s playground. Its design was informed by dementia researchers, healthcare professionals, community advocates and people with lived experience.

According to the Dementia Network of Calgary, approximately 20,000 Calgarians are currently living with dementia.

🤠🌞 What a fantastic day at GFLS!
Our Stampede Breakfast was a huge success, with close to 400 people coming through our doors—wow! Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so special.

A big thank you to the Rotary Club for being our sponsor, along with Hear Canada for joining us today. We are so grateful for your support!

Shout out to all of our incredible volunteers and Cafe 55 for your hard work in making this event run so smoothly—we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thankyou FCC for awarding GFLS with the Climate Ready YYC Grant! We have learned about reducing our water consumption, recycling, the importance of bees and how to build a community garden. Our new water capture will water all our beds to make this community garden self sufficient and provide valuable food security.
