Canal Flats Fire Rescue

Canal Flats Fire Rescue Volunteer Fire Department and First Aid

06/14/2026

On June 12, at 11:00am, CFFR was called to the Canal Flats transfer station for piles of smouldering metal and debris. We determined that two travel trailers had burned through the night. Thankfully, the fire did not transfer to the surrounding forest, but with summer season almost here, we want to send a reminder to remain vigilant with our fire safety actions, as well as the actions of others.

If you see smoke, smouldering material, or unsafe burning practices, please report it right away.

CFFR was excited to welcome the Amazing Racers to our stations last night where they donned PPE and SCBA, rolled hose, used fire extinguishers, and brushed up on CPR. Maybe some of them will come back to us one day 🧑‍🚒👩‍🚒😉

CFFR will be burning old grass along the sides of Baillie Grohman Ave this evening until about 8:30 pm

Great practice tonight! We drove trucks, pulled hose, and put wet stuff on hot stuff. The view was pretty great too!l

Reminder: CFFR will continue wildfire mitigation work this evening, weather permitting. Smoke may be visible in the area of Tilley Memorial Park from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Beginning this evening and over the next few Wednesday night practices, CFFR will be burning long grass and dead shrubs around the community. We wanted to give everyone a heads-up that smoke from these burns may be visible tonight.
