Home Horizon Transitional Support Program

Home Horizon Transitional Support Program We are Home Horizon and the Barbara Weider House, working with youth at risk of homelessness in the Southern Georgian Bay Area.

Home Horizon creates a community where youth who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness are supported and empowered with the resources and skills to transition into adulthood. While you don’t typically see it, homelessness is a real issue in our area. We currently have 27 youth waiting for help from Home Horizon. Swipe left to see some of our results. The first step in dealing with youth faci

ng homelessness is to help them find a safe roof over their head. This could be the Barbara Weider House or to help connect them with other housing service organizations in our community. The first priority is they need to be safe and inside for the night. In addition, we offer access to counselling and social and life skills programs to help our youth successfully rebuild their lives and transition to independent living and adulthood. They are provided with a range of support programs that will help them learn life skills, have positive relationships with peers and adults, and re-engage with school, employment training, and/or employment. The Barbara Weider House bridges the critical gap between emergency shelter and independent living for youth aged 16-24. Our services address the needs of youth in crisis and provide the support to help them master the tasks of adolescence as well as focus on their education and employment possibilities. The pandemic has non-profit organizations cancelling fundraising events and scrambling for new ways to raise funds... and we are no different. Our revenue shortfalls has our fundraising committee working hard to find new and creative ways to engage our community and to ignite people’s interest in supporting our youth. Volunteer Appreciation Highlight – Sponsors Who SHOW UP 💙

Today we’re celebrating our sponsors who don’t just give—they show up.

We are so thankful for businesses that align with Home Horizon and our mission to support and empower youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

What makes this support so meaningful is seeing teams come out together—volunteering, participating, and standing beside us with heart and purpose.

That kind of commitment helps create real change: breaking the cycle of youth homelessness with hope, safety, and growth.

💙 A special thank you to some of the incredible sponsors who continue to step up and stand with us:

Volunteer Appreciation Highlight - A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Incredible Coldest Night of the Year Volunteers 💙

To our amazing CNOY volunteers—there are truly so many of you to appreciate!

Your selfless dedication and willingness to give your time, energy, and compassion mean the world to us. From stepping up at registration tables, handing out toques, collecting donations, serving as route marshals, or helping fuel our walkers in the kitchen—every role you played mattered.💙

Our largest fundraising event, Coldest Night of the Year, simply could not happen without each and every one of you.

We are so incredibly grateful. Thank you for showing up, giving back, and making a real difference in our community. 💫

🔥 Volunteer Appreciation Highlight 🔥

Bri & Max — our unstoppable dynamic duo!

Year after year, they show up with a “yes” attitude that never wavers. From CNOY Route Marshals to Spirit Tour greeters and pourers, these two are always in motion, always stepping in, and always bringing heart to every single moment.

What makes Bri & Max so special isn’t just what they do — it’s how they do it. With joy, energy, and a genuine love for community, they embody what it truly means to step up and support others.

We are beyond grateful for their continued commitment, their spirit, and the love they pour into everything we do at Home Horizon.
Bri & Max — you are the heart of what volunteering is all about. 💛

Volunteer Appreciation Highlight 💙

A huge shoutout and heartfelt thank you to David and Karen Barrett for their incredible dedication to Osler Ski Day over the past 8 years!

What began as a special day of skiing, friendship, and community has grown into something truly impactful—bringing together Osler friends to ski, share, auction, and raise vital funds in support of Home Horizon.

This Volunteer Appreciation Highlight is dedicated to David and Karen, who have taken on all the behind-the-scenes work to make this fundraiser possible year after year. Your commitment, energy, and heart do not go unnoticed—you truly stand with us in every way.
This year’s February ski day raised just over $15,000—an incredible achievement that will directly support youth in our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and supported. And especially to David and Karen—your generosity makes a lasting difference. 💙

Kicking off National Volunteer Week with something truly special…

Our Holiday Cheer Elves are an extraordinary group of humans who show up each year with heart, kindness, and purpose.

In 2025, they raised an incredible $29,588.36—bringing real Holiday Cheer to the 10 youth at Barbara Weider House and to youth we support through outreach, wherever they are.

But what matters most isn’t just the dollars—it’s the impact.
Because of them, young people felt seen. Supported. Cared for.

During a season that can be especially difficult, they created moments of joy, dignity, and belonging that last far beyond the holidays.
This is what community looks like at its very best: kindness, teamwork, and unwavering commitment.

💙 Thank you for believing in our youth and for making a difference when it matters most.
