Home Horizon Transitional Support Program We are Home Horizon and the Barbara Weider House, working with youth at risk of homelessness in the Southern Georgian Bay Area.

Home Horizon creates a community where youth who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness are supported and empowered with the resources and skills to transition into adulthood. While you don’t typically see it, homelessness is a real issue in our area. We currently have 27 youth waiting for help from Home Horizon. Swipe left to see some of our results. The first step in dealing with youth facing homelessness is to help them find a safe roof over their head. This could be the Barbara Weider House or to help connect them with other housing service organizations in our community. The first priority is they need to be safe and inside for the night. In addition, we offer access to counselling and social and life skills programs to help our youth successfully rebuild their lives and transition to independent living and adulthood. They are provided with a range of support programs that will help them learn life skills, have positive relationships with peers and adults, and re-engage with school, employment training, and/or employment. The Barbara Weider House bridges the critical gap between emergency shelter and independent living for youth aged 16-24. Our services address the needs of youth in crisis and provide the support to help them master the tasks of adolescence as well as focus on their education and employment possibilities. The pandemic has non-profit organizations cancelling fundraising events and scrambling for new ways to raise funds... and we are no different. Our revenue shortfalls has our fundraising committee working hard to find new and creative ways to engage our community and to ignite people’s interest in supporting our youth. If you are able to support us, click the link in our bio. We thank you for your help and support during these difficult times.

🌟 Thank You, Meridian Credit Union Collingwood & Blue Mountain Honda! 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to our Barbara Weider House Youth Champion Sponsors, Meridian Credit Union and Blue Mountain Honda, for stepping up year after year to support the vital work we do with youth at risk and experiencing homelessness.

These community champions don't just invest in our event, they invest in the future of local young people. Their commitment to creating a stronger, more caring community makes a real difference in the lives of the youth we serve every day.

We're proud to bank with Meridian and drive with Blue Mountain Honda, knowing that both organizations are deeply committed to giving back and helping their community thrive.

A huge thank you to the incredible sponsors who make Spirit of Collingwood possible! ❤️

As we begin highlighting the businesses and community partners behind this year’s event, we want to recognize the generosity that helps bring it all to life.

Thanks to their support, we’re able to keep event costs down and direct as much money as possible toward supporting youth in our community through Home Horizon.

We couldn’t do this without them, and we’re so grateful to have such an incredible community behind us.

Today, September 30, we recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

🧡 We honour Residential School Survivors, their families, and the children who never came home, while reflecting on the lasting impacts of the Residential School system and the importance of reconciliation.

The orange shirt symbolizes the culture, freedom, identity, and self-esteem that were taken from many Indigenous children. It reminds us that Every Child Matters.

At Home Horizon, we stand with all youth, recognizing that every young person deserves to feel safe, valued, heard, and supported. Together, we can build a community where all youth have the opportunity to thrive, belong, and reach their full potential.

Today, and every day, let us stand together in remembrance, respect, and reconciliation. 🧡
