✅Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs)
✅ Fluorescent tubes (straight, curved, U, circular, square, etc.)
✅ High-intensity discharge (HIDs) and special purpose bulbs
✅ Incandescent and halogen bulbs
✅ Miniature bulbs
✅ Light emitting diodes (LEDs)
✅ Ultra High Performance (UHP) (replacement projector lamps)
✅ UV and germicidal bulbs

🚫Myth:
"It all gets shipped overseas anyway"

🧐Fact:
In 2025, end markets for residential plastic, paper, metal and glass collected and managed by Recycle BC were as follows:

♻️ Plastic:
99.5% of materials were sent to recycling end markets in BC.

♻️Paper:
53%* of materials were sent to recycling end markets in North America.

♻️Metal:
100% of materials were sent to recycling end markets in North America.

♻️Glass:
100% of materials were sent to recycling end markets in BC.

*Due to shifts in market demand for recycled materials, domestic mills were unable to accommodate the increased volume of paper shipped from Recycle BC, resulting in a small increase in material going to international markets.

Paper end markets not in North America are in: India, Laos, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam and are visited and verified by our post-collection team.

Flexible Plastics do not go into curbside recycling BUT they are recyclable! Collect them at home and bring them to the recycling depot to keep them out of the landfill.
Which items qualify as flexible plastic? So glad you asked!
♻️ Woven & net plastic bags (ex: lemons, avocados, rice)
♻️ Plastic bags & overwrap (ex: plastic around flats of drinks, ziplock bags, bread bags)
♻️ Stand-up & zipper lock pouches (ex: trail mix bags, apple sauce pouches)
♻️ Crinkly wrappers & bags (ex: chip bags, granola bar or candy bar wrappers)
♻️ Flexible packaging with plastic seal (ex: lunch meat & cheese wrappers)
♻️ Plastic wrap & bubble wrap

Open 9:30 am-5:30 pm on the following days:
Campbell River: Tues & Wed
Comox Valley: Thurs & Fri
