What does climate action look like in Hamilton? Nearly 900,000 litres of stormwater were diverted in 2025 through Rain Ready Hamilton — helping reduce runoff, support local waterways and build a more resilient community.
This World Environment Day, we’re celebrating local actions that add up to real environmental impact.
Through Rain Ready Hamilton, a partnership between the City of Hamilton and Green Venture, residents helped achieve:
💧 73 projects completed
🌱 1,211 native trees planted
🌿 2,366 native plants installed
🌼 54 rain gardens created
🏡 15 permeable driveways installed
🌧️ Nearly 900,000 litres of stormwater diverted
And with the program running again in 2026, even more residents are taking part this year — meaning these impacts will continue to grow. Year after year, as more projects are added, these collective efforts help strengthen Hamilton’s resilience and support a more nature-friendly city.
Together, these projects help keep rain where it falls, reducing pressure on local infrastructure, supporting biodiversity and protecting local waterways.
Every action counts. Every project makes a difference.
