Need help with federal services? Service Canada will be at the Inuvik Native Band on August 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering in-person help with SIN applications, benefits, pensions, Employment Insurance, passports and My Service Canada Account.

It’s a good opportunity to get questions answered and receive face-to-face support without having to navigate everything on your own.

Treaty Day is underway!

Chief has already received his Treaty Payment, and we’re here at the Band office until 4pm.

We’re also assisting with new registrations and Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) applications and renewals.

Please remember to bring valid government-issued ID. ID is required for both Treaty Annuity Payments and Status card applications or renewals.

If you are:
- Applying for a new registration: Please bring your original long-form birth certificate.
- Applying for a new SCIS card or renewing your card: Please bring two passport-style photos.

We’ll be here until 4pm, we look forward to seeing you!

In addition to Treaty Payments, we’ll also be available to assist with Indian Status applications.

If you need help applying for registration or obtaining a Secure Certificate of Indian Status (SCIS) card, please bring the following:

* Valid government-issued ID
* Long-form birth certificate (for new registrations)
* Two passport-style photos (for SCIS card applications)

If you’re attending for your Treaty payment, please remember to bring valid government-issued ID. The name on your ID must match the name on the Indian Register.

The Inuvik Native Band will be providing bus transportation for community members wishing to attend the Gwich’in Gathering in Fort McPherson on Friday and Monday.

Priority seating will be given to Elders.

Seats are limited. To register, please call the Inuvik Native Band office at 867-777-5868.

We look forward to supporting our community in attending this important gathering.

When community comes together, amazing things happen 🤝

What an incredible day for our community!

A huge thank you to everyone who came together to make our food hamper distribution such a success. It was amazing to see so many people step up, lend a hand, and support families in Inuvik.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kirstin, Jason, and Nolan from Food Banks Canada, Dave from the Food Bank Society of the Yukon, Grand Chief Frederick Blake, Mayor Peter Clarkson, the RCMP, Brian Kudlak from Ingamo Hall, Fred Arey from the Aklavik Indian Band, and our volunteers Richard Larocque and Carter Nerysoo for taking the time to be there and help with today’s distribution. Your support, leadership, and willingness to work together means so much to our community.

A special thank you as well to our incredible team—Chief Robert Charlie Tetlichi, Laska Nerysoo, Mary Ann Villeneuve, and Lorraine Greenland—whose hard work behind the scenes helped make today’s distribution possible. We couldn’t do this without your dedication.

This is just the beginning, and we’re excited about the partnerships we’re building and what’s ahead for the Inuvik Food Bank. Together, we can continue strengthening food security and supporting one another.

📦 Our next food hamper distribution, along with our After the Bell snack bags, will take place next Friday from 3:00–6:00 PM. We look forward to seeing everyone then!
