Today’s conversations at our Match for the Global Leadership Exchange were focused on strengthening the developmental services workforce through:

> Collaboration across sector and government
> Inclusion and belonging in career pathways
> Practical strategies for recruitment and retention

It's so powerful to be in a space where leaders are openly sharing challenges…and solutions. This match is just one of over 30 workshops taking place across Canada and we're so excited to come together later this week in Ottawa to connect as a large group.

For the first time at KW Habilitation, we hosted a Pride Flag Raising event. 🌈

We've been flying the Pride flag, with pride, for many years, but today marked a special moment. We gathered with members of our community, the people we work for, our team, and neighbours to celebrate together at the start of Pride Month.

The Progressive Pride Flag is a symbol of inclusion, dignity, and belonging. Pride is a celebration, but also a moment for reflection. It reminds us of the ongoing journey toward a world where everyone can live authentically, safely, and with respect.

Today’s event, hosted by our IDEA Collective (KW Habilitations, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility team) was filled with connection and community. We enjoyed cupcakes and coffee, shared meaningful conversations, and opened the floor for those who wished to speak about what Pride means to them. It was a reminder of the importance of visibility, solidarity, and creating spaces where every voice can be heard.

At KW Habilitation, we are committed to building environments where people of all identities and experiences are welcomed, valued, and supported. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, reflect, and stand together. HAPPY PRIDE! 💛💜🤍🩷🩵🤎🖤❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Our community supported agriculture membership gives people a selection of fresh, locally grown vegetables from Our Farm at KW Habilitation for 17 weeks this summer and fall. Each week people can pick up delicious vegetables that are locally grown with organic practices to take home and enjoy.

Every week we also send an email with information about what people are going to receive that includes recipes and news from the field at Our Farm. Did you know that Our Farm at KW Habilitation grows food for the people we work for and provides it to them (and leftovers to community partners) for no cost?!

When you subscribe to our CSA program, you're helping us offset grocery costs for hundreds of people in our community!

This afternoon, we hosted a fantastic conversation with Michael Stewart and Charlie McMillan, who are visiting from Scotland to take part in the upcoming Global Leadership Exchange.

Framed as an informal and reflective discussion, the session brought together a cross‑section of voices, including people with lived experience, members of our leadership and senior leadership teams, frontline staff, and a member of our board. Having such a diverse group in the room helped bring out meaningful conversations that included real perspectives from across the system.

We spoke about belonging, lived experience, participation, and the role of human rights in shaping inclusive practice. Something that resonated was the importance of listening to “experts by experience” and centering the voices of those who live the realities we are working to improve.

Michael and Charlie drew on decades of work in social care, human rights, and advocacy in Scotland, sharing great stories and bringing with them first hand reflections from the people they advocate for. One message stood out clearly: while supports may be different, so many of the challenges we face in disability and social services are shared across the world.

This is why opportunities like the Global Leadership Exchange are so valuable. They allow us to connect across borders, bring shared challenges into conversation, and learn from one another as we work toward more inclusive, equitable systems.

A heartfelt thank you to Michael, Charlie, and all the people in the room this afternoon who contributed to such a great discussion.
