🌱🥕 The weather may be getting cooler, but that isn't slowing down our Mindful Gardening participants!

During last week's session, participants embraced the crisp fall weather, enjoyed some tasty snacks, and continued tending to their garden beds. From harvesting fresh vegetables to spending time outdoors in good company, the session was a wonderful reminder of the joy that comes from connecting with nature and one another.

We can't wait to see what the garden has in store for the weeks ahead! 🍅🌿

What is Rise & Play?

Rise & Play is a welcoming wellness program for women aged 55+ that brings together joyful movement, meaningful social connection, and hands-on cooking experiences.

Created to reduce isolation and support healthy aging, the program provides a safe and inclusive space where women can build confidence, make new friendships, learn practical wellness skills, and stay active at their own pace.

Our first session starts on Monday, September 21st. Don't forget to register!

✨ Move together. Learn together. Grow together.

What a wonderful start to our journey of creativity and self-expression! This week, participants were invited to paint a special memory, capturing a moment they truly enjoyed. From cherished experiences to imaginative interpretations, the creativity was flowing and each artwork told a unique story. 🌸🖌️

We loved seeing everyone bring their memories to life through colour, imagination, and artistic expression.

Thank you to all our young artists for making Week 1 so memorable. We can't wait to see what you'll create next!

🌟 See you all tomorrow for Session 2!

☁️🧡 On September 30, we pause to remember, reflect, and commit ourselves to the ongoing journey of truth and reconciliation.

MSSWR will be joining the Remember Me Walk, hosted by The Healing of the Seven Generations, to honour the survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize our shared responsibility to build a more just and inclusive future.

We invite our community to walk alongside us in reflection, solidarity, and remembrance. Together, we can honour the truth, amplify Indigenous voices, and continue the work of reconciliation.

September 30th @ 10am
300 Frederick Street -> Victoria Park

🧡 Wear orange and join us in commemorating the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Yesterday, we took part in the United Way March of 1,000 Umbrellas, walking from Waterloo City Hall to Kitchener City Hall in support of a stronger, more connected community. ☂️

The experience reminded us that no challenge is too great when people come together with compassion, purpose, and a commitment to supporting one another. Change begins when communities unite, and yesterday was a beautiful example of that in action.

💚❤ Together, we are stronger.

We’re grateful for the families who continue to share how meaningful our programs have been for them. From respectful, welcoming staff to programs that support adults, children, men, and women alike, community members tell us their children look forward to attending - and that they themselves benefit just as much.

Feedback like this reminds us why we remain committed to creating spaces where everyone feels supported, encouraged, and valued.

Rise & Play is more than a recreation program, it's a space to connect, move, learn, and grow together. Our first session will be taking place on Monday, next week!

Designed for women aged 55+, Rise & Play brings together physical activity, social connection, and hands-on cooking experiences in a welcoming and culturally responsive environment. Through movement, shared meals, and meaningful conversations, participants can build confidence, reduce isolation, strengthen wellness habits, and create lasting friendships.

💛 Move together. Cook together. Thrive together.

It's Throwback Thursday and today we’re looking back at our Summer Community BBQ & Volunteer Appreciation - a beautiful evening filled with connection, gratitude, and community care. From shared meals to meaningful conversations, the gathering brought together volunteers, families, partners, and community members in a way that truly reflected the heart of our work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our incredible partners - REEP Green Solutions, Wisahkotewinowak Collective, and Crow Shield Lodge - for helping make this event so special.

Moments like these remind us of the strength of community and the impact we create when we come together. 🤍🌿
