🧡 As we approach Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, we invite our community to take a moment to reflect, learn, and listen.

For newcomers to Canada, learning about the history of residential schools and their lasting impacts is an important part of understanding the country we now call home.

On this day, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

Wondering how you can take part? Swipe through for meaningful ways to engage, and keep an eye out for local activities and opportunities to learn across the Kitchener-Waterloo community.

Reconciliation is a journey that continues beyond September 30.

Last Saturday, we kicked off Newcomer Welcome Week with the Newcomer Connections Picnic! 🎉

In collaboration with Kinbridge Community Assoc , Marwa Kinbridge , and community partners, we connected with so many people from the Cambridge community, celebrated our diversity, and shared helpful resources and connections.

A big thank you to everyone behind the scenes, volunteers and team members, and everyone who joined us and made it such a special and memorable day!

We're saddened to learn of the passing of David Cooke.

David was married to Myrta Rivera who was our Executive Director for over 25 years. David's contributions to the Centre, the City of Kitchener, and the world were significant and lasting.

David was raised in Kingston, Ontario. He attended KCVI before studying at Queen's University. As a young man, he proudly served with the Fort Henry Guard. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1967, David moved to Kitchener, where he made his home for decades. He began his legal career as Assistant City Sol...
