Total Communication Environment (TCE) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in November 1979 and obtained charitable status in early 1980. TCE's mandate was to provide a home to a small group of children with multiple disabilities and special communication needs, licensed under Ministry of Health

TCE has grown and evolved, in direct response to the changing needs of the original group of

children and others in our community including individuals wit developmental disabilities. TCE was than licensed under the Ministry of Children and Community Social Services

TCE providing a variety of support to over 90 individuals with developmental, multiple disabilities and special communication needs. TCE Supports:
- RESIDENTIAL SUPPORTS - from minimal to 24 hours ,
7 days a week in a variety of settings including apartments for one person, townhouses for a few roommates to homes for individuals with complex and behavioural needs.
- COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION - through a variety of community activities, including educational, recreational, vocational, volunteer work, and employment
- RESPITE AND OUTREACH - respite to families supporting individuals at home and outreach to long term care homes in the Ottawa area, for adults wit developmental disabilities and communication needs.

Another great trip to the cottage for Rob, Gavin, Danny, and Rich! ☀️🏕️
A weekend filled with some of our favourite things, great food, time by the fire, swimming, and of course, plenty of s'mores. Nothing beats good company, good laughs, and making more memories together at the cottage.

Already looking forward to the next trip! 🔥

What a fantastic day at the Agriculture Museum! 🌾🚜

Mark had an amazing time exploring the exhibits, learning about farming, meeting the animals, and discovering how food gets from the farm to our tables. From tractors and farm equipment to hands-on activities, there were lots of fun and educational activities to fill the afternoon.

Alecia hosted a wellness class where they created vision boards filled with things that inspire them, support their well-being, and help them think about their goals for the future.

There were lots of great conversations about feelings, staying active, sports, and the activities that bring joy and purpose to everyday life. Zumba was a popular theme, with several participants sharing how much they enjoy getting moving and having fun while staying fit! 🕺💃

The class also provided an opportunity to get creative, express ideas, and spend quality time together as a group. Every board reflected the unique interests and aspirations of the person who created it.

Most importantly, everyone agreed that the class was a positive experience. Activities like these promote wellness, self-expression, personal growth, and meaningful connections—values that are at the heart of building inclusive and supportive communities.

Spending time with animals can have such a positive impact on our well-being. From encouraging relaxation and reducing stress to bringing comfort, connection, and lots of laughter, our furry friends have a special way of brightening the day.

There were plenty of smiles, gentle cuddles, and happy moments shared during Riggs' visit with Stephen, Craig, and Claire. Experiences like these help promote wellness, meaningful connections, and joyful living.

Robert had lunch with his friend Mike, then we stopped by the dollar store to pick up some essentials—pop, candy, and of course a new pair of Garfield socks!

After that, we spent the afternoon at the Museum of Nature, where Robert really enjoyed exploring the exhibits and being very hands-on with everything.

We then took a scenic drive to Kawartha Dairy on Carling, where he treated himself to a cotton candy ice cream dish—definitely a highlight of the day!
