“None of us are free until we’re all free.” – Opal Lee

Today, we recognize Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day and Emancipation Day, a pivotal moment in U.S. history that commemorates the effective end of slavery in 1865—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Juneteenth is a day to celebrate freedom, reflect on the ongoing pursuit of equality, and honour the resilience and contributions of Black communities across generations.

A heartfelt thank you to Gary (left) and the incredible teams at MacMaster Buick GMC and Orangeville Chrysler for their generous donation of 25 prepared chicken meals from their recent Chicken Drive.

The event was a tremendous success, with more than 600 chicken meals sold and proceeds supporting Headwaters Health Care Centre. We are so grateful that they also chose to share the spirit of giving with FTP through this thoughtful donation.

Community partnerships like these make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we support. Thank you for helping nourish our community and for demonstrating the power of kindness and generosity. 💜

FTP is leading the delivery of CLEAR (Coaching Leadership, Equity and Respect)—an evidence-based violence prevention program—across Dufferin County and Caledon.

Selected by Interval House of Hamilton following Ontario Ministry of Education funding, FTP brings this programming to schools, athletic organizations, and community groups at no cost.

📺 See it in action: https://youtu.be/f7uZJ97nIoo?si=nrywGuIj9pfGG4PR

These programs are designed not as isolated presentations, but as embedded, ongoing frameworks for cultural change—equipping coaches and leaders with tools to model respect and prevent violence from an early age.

If your school, sports organization, or community group is interested in participating, we'd welcome the conversation.

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. 💜

A common myth: older women aren't at risk of physical or sexual abuse because of their age.

The reality? Older women can experience every form of violence — physical, sexual, psychological, and financial. Psychological and financial abuse are most common, but physical and sexual violence in later life does happen. Some women have faced abuse across their entire lifetime.

Human rights don't age.

As a community, we all have a role in protecting the dignity, safety, and well-being of older adults.
