Heidi recommends Make Believe: On Telling Stories to Children by Mac Barnett: “Mac Barnett champions the dynamic art and importance of children's books. Drawing on his experience as an author and as the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, he makes an excellent case for make believe! A quick read that ignites the magic of children's books & highlights the importance of reading aloud.”

Last week community members gathered at the library in the spirit of knowledge sharing and reflection to create beaded pins. Today, on Orange Shirt Day, we wear our orange shirts and our beaded pins to reflect on the terrible legacy of the Indian residential school system, to honour both the victims and survivors of residential schools, and to commit to the truth that EVERY CHILD MATTERS.

A reminder that the library closes at 5pm today so that staff may attend local Orange Shirt Day ceremonies.
