What is scent work?
It’s your dog’s favourite game, using the skill they’re best at.
Your dog learns to find a specific target odour hidden somewhere in a search area, then tells you when they’ve found it. The hide might be in a row of boxes, a room, a vehicle, or outdoors. You don’t know where it is. Your dog does the work, and you learn to read what they’re telling you.
Why dogs (and their people) love it:
• Dogs have up to 300 million scent receptors. Humans have about 6 million. This is what they’re built for.
• It’s a real mental workout. They get to exercise their natural instincts.
• It builds confidence, focus, and teamwork.
• It’s low-impact, so it suits puppies, seniors, and everyone in between.
• Shy, reactive, and excitable dogs often shine here, because it’s calm, at their own pace, and they set the speed.
No experience needed, for you or your dog. We’ll show you how to get started.
