RUFUS is a pre-positioned wildfire suppression system designed to help protect high-risk properties, communities, and critical infrastructure before response crews arrive. With water already on site, independent power and communications, remote operation, surveillance, and a deployable suppression arm, RUFUS adds a proactive layer of defence when time, access, and distance matter most.

If evacuation happens, protection does not have to stop. RUFUS can be operated remotely, helping support firefighters while keeping people safely away from the hazard.

For over eighteen months, CJS Industrial has been in conversation with communities, municipalities, fire services, and homeowners across Canada about wildfire risk.

Before anything else, our hearts go out to everyone who has lost property, homes, or a sense of safety this year. The scale of loss across the country has been devastating, and we don’t take that lightly.

One thing has become clear through all these conversations: everyone agrees that being proactive is the right approach. Scroll through LinkedIn on any given week and you’ll see the same sentiment echoed by leaders, agencies, and residents alike. We’re collectively aligned on the philosophy and that’s a genuinely encouraging starting point.

Now comes the harder part: turning that shared belief into action on the ground.

We know the people making these decisions are doing so under real constraints tight budgets, competing priorities, complex jurisdictions. We’re not looking to point fingers. We just believe that with the tools available today, there’s a real opportunity to close the gap between what everyone agrees needs to happen and what’s actually being funded and deployed.

Wildfire protection shouldn't depend on how fast the system moves. Sometimes it should just show up.

For months, we've reached out to provincial and municipal agencies trying to get our wildfire protection technology into communities at risk. That process takes time , time that people facing active wildfire threats right now don't have.

So we're going directly to the people it affects.

We absolutely love testing day!
It was the perfect excuse to cool off during this Alberta heat wave , but it was also a great reminder of why we do what we do.
