After 14 days of deployment, Fire Chief Clayton Allen and Lt. Ken Davidson are returning home. Before they do, a crew change is taking place in Summerland: Deputy Fire Chief Jarrod LaRoy and Firefighter Travis Lansing are en route to relieve the tactical tender crew and continue operations. Thank you to all four for their dedication and hard work! 🚒🔥

We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity people continue to show firefighters and wildfire personnel across B.C. ❤️

We know when wildfires are impacting communities, people want to help. And we see and appreciate the offers of food, drinks, supplies and other donations that come our way.

While the gesture means a lot, BC Wildfire Service crews are fully supplied with the food, water and equipment they need. Unfortunately, we’re not able to accept donations at fire camps, bases or worksites. Unplanned deliveries can also create additional work for personnel and interfere with busy wildfire operations.

The best way to support wildfire response is to direct that generosity toward the communities and people who need it most.

Organizations like the United Way BC and Canadian Red Cross, along with local organizations supporting evacuees and impacted communities, can help ensure donations reach people where they’ll have the greatest impact.

There are other important ways you can help, too.

Follow evacuation orders and alerts, respect area restrictions and road closures, stay clear of wildfire operations and do everything you can to prevent new human-caused wildfires.

You can also take action at home. FireSmart work around your property can help make your home more resilient to wildfire and give firefighters a better chance of defending it. Simple actions like clearing combustible material from around your home, cleaning debris from roofs and gutters and keeping vegetation maintained can make a meaningful difference.

And if you want to show your appreciation for BCWS staff and responders, drop a message in the comments, send us a message or email [email protected]. We’ll collect your messages and share them with the people working hard across the province. ❤️

This evening during fire practice, Sicamous Fire Rescue members will be focusing on emergency planning for the wildland urban interface areas surrounding our community. You may see SFR vehicles or firefighters on foot throughout your area.🚒

Sicamous Fire Rescue monitors forecasts and conditions to ensure that we are prepared to respond quickly should an event require it. This includes tactical patrols of the community into the night when thunderstorms are expected.🧯

We've got your back, Sicamous!🧑‍🚒

Given the scope and scale of wildfires currently burning in B.C., and to further protect public safety, recreational off-road vehicle use will be prohibited on Crown land in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres, as well as parts of the Cariboo and Coastal Fire Centres. This prohibition is effective immediately, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2026.

Full information for current prohibitions and restrictions is provided here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/fire-bans-and-restrictions

On August 5, BC Wildfire Service requested a Type 6 Engine from Sicamous Fire Rescue.

Chief Clayton Allen, Lt. Craig Ludman and Firefighter Travis Lansing departed Sicamous at 11 a.m. on August 6, heading to Keremeos to help battle the Sinlahekin Fire, which is currently progressing toward the Canadian border from Washington State.

On the morning of August 6, BC Wildfire Service made a second request, this time for a Type 2 Tactical Tender. Lt. Ken Davidson and Ranchero/Deep Creek Firefighter Kaitlyn Smith departed Sicamous at 3 p.m., also en route to Keremeos.

Proud of our crews for answering the call and supporting wildfire efforts across the region. Stay safe out there!🚒

Our two members deployed to the Brunswick Complex Fire near Boston Bar, BC have safely returned home as of July 27, wrapping up a demanding stretch that began July 14.

While deployed as a Type 2 Tactical Tender, our crew took on tender support, fire attack and tactical patrols alongside BC Wildfire Service, our own mutual aid departments in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District and departments from all over the province.

Some of the most demanding work came in support of back burn operations, and again when crews responded to the onset of the Anderson Creek fire. These all hands-on-deck moments tested the crew and the mutual aid system that makes wildfire response possible in this province.

As the fire progressed, our crew was required to adapt to dynamic and evolving conditions, including long days and 5 separate camp moves. Over the deployment, each member logged 168 hours across 12 fire line days, plus 8.5 hours of travel, which is a testament to the physical and mental demands of wildfire response.

This kind of deployment is a reminder of what interagency cooperation looks like on the ground. Departments from across BC are working side by side, often with people they’ve never met before, towards the same goal.

Thank you to our members for representing Sicamous Fire Rescue with professionalism, and to every agency and crew they worked alongside.
