Something scary might be lurking in the garage, basement or shed. 👻

This Halloween, give those spooky leftovers the booooooot at Norfolk County’s next Household Hazardous Waste event on Saturday, October 31 in Langton. Appointments are required.

Time to clear out:

🧪 Old jugs of antifreeze in the garage
🎨 Rusty paint cans from 10 years ago
💊 Expired medications in the bathroom
🔋 That pile of used batteries in the drawer
🏊 Leftover pool chemicals in the shed

Accepted materials include paint, batteries, pesticides, propane cylinders, pharmaceuticals, household cleaners, automotive fluids, fluorescent bulbs and many other common household products, including antifreeze, gasoline and fertilizer.

🚫 A reminder that drums of material are not accepted. Electronics such as cell phones, printers and televisions should be recycled through other approved programs.

🏆 Norfolk County Economic Development is celebrating national recognition after receiving the Strategic Marketing & Digital Storytelling Award from EDAC for the Down a Norfolk County Road campaign.

You don't horse around, Norfolk! 🐴 As Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show week continues, residents in our Wednesday collection areas have given us something to celebrate too.

Wednesday (October 7) collection set a new organics record, with 13 metric tonnes collected from: Port Dover, downtown Simcoe, Delhi, Lynedoch, Pinegrove, Cultus, Frogmore, Fairground

For a Fair Week comparison, that's about the weight of 13 Clydesdale horses.

Thank you to everyone using their green carts and helping keep organic material out of landfill. Every cart makes a difference, and together you're helping Norfolk reach new milestones.

Let’s look back, Norfolk. 🕰️ Did you know Waterford Pumpkinfest has been bringing the community together since 1982?

As Norfolk County celebrates its 25th anniversary, we also celebrate traditions that have stood the test of time. Organized by dedicated volunteers for more than 40 years, Pumpkinfest has grown from a small community celebration into one of Norfolk’s most beloved events.

With Pumpkinfest just one week away, it’s the perfect time to celebrate this longstanding Norfolk tradition.

𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘆-𝗹𝗮𝘄

Norfolk County Council passed Development Charges By-law No. 2026-94 on September 22, 2026, pursuant to section 2(1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997, S.O. 1997, c. 27, as amended.

𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲: any person or organization may appeal the by-law to the Ontario Land Tribunal under section 14 of the Act by filing a notice of appeal with the Clerk of Norfolk County on or before November 1, 2026. The notice of appeal must set out the objection to the by-law and the reasons supporting the objection.

The development charges established by the by-law will come into effect on July 1, 2027. The applicable development charge rates are set out in Schedule B of By-law No. 2026-94.

No key map has been provided as the by-law applies to all lands located within the municipality of Norfolk County.

A copy of the complete by-law is available for examination at the municipality of Norfolk County office, 50 Colborne Street South, Simcoe, Ontario during regular business hours (weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), excluding statutory holidays.

𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝘆-𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝟭𝟴-𝟴𝟴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟱𝟵 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲, 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗵𝗶

An application has been received under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act to repeal By-law 18-88, which designates the property municipally known as 259 Western Avenue, Delhi.

The property, which dates from 1891, is located at the corner of Western Avenue and Quance Street in Delhi. The building was designated in 1988 for its significance in relation to its original builder-owners, Hannah and Robert Quance, who were important citizens of Delhi. Robert, along with his brother Peter, opened a milling and manufacturing company that contributed to the well-being of the community for many years.

Architecturally, the dwelling is an example of the Picturesque Eclectic style of the period. While it has lost its most valuable feature, the front verandahs, it remains significant for its elevations, including all window and door openings, and its roofline, including the eaves and brackets.

Take notice that the purpose of the application is to repeal the designation by-law, thereby removing the property's heritage status. Any person may, within 30 days of the publication of this notice, submit written comments or objections to: Clerk of Norfolk County - [email protected]
