𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟭

Starting July 1, 2026, eligible Albertans can apply for a **$100 Alberta Energy Rebate** to help offset the rising costs of fuel, groceries, utilities, and other household expenses.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲?
• Alberta residents aged 18+
• Filed a 2025 tax return
• Household income of $225,000 or less

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲?
• $100 per eligible adult
• Two-adult households may receive $200
• Additional eligible adults (18+) living in the home may also qualify

𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱:
July 1 – September 30, 2026

𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘭.

Seniors receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit and individuals enrolled in AISH, ADAP, or Income Support will be automatically enrolled.

The rebate is tax-free and will not affect eligibility for provincial or federal benefit programs.

𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦

Failing to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle with its lights flashing and sirens on is more than just a bad driving habit — it can have 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 and serious legal penalties.

When you hear those sirens or see those lights, every second counts. Ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles are rushing to save lives, fight fires, or respond to critical emergencies. Blocking their path or failing to pull over can delay help from reaching someone in need — someone’s child, parent, or loved one.

𝗜𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿:

⮕ You must immediately yield the right-of-way to any emergency vehicle using its lights and siren.
⮕ Safely pull over to the right side of the road and stop until the vehicle has passed.
⮕ Do not drive through intersections or continue until it’s safe.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱:

⮕ Fines starting at several hundred dollars
⮕ Demerit points on your licence
⮕ Potential suspension of your driving privileges
⮕ Criminal charges in serious cases where harm results

This isn’t just about avoiding a ticket — it’s about 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀. One distracted or careless driver can turn a life-saving response into a tragedy.

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗱𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲. Stay alert. Stay aware. Yield immediately and safely.

A friendly reminder that disposing of garbage along back roads, in ditches, under bridges, or in other rural areas is prohibited. Unfortunately, the MD of Spirit River is seeing instances of garbage and unwanted items being discarded in the above-mentioned areas.

The good news? Everyone in the Central Peace has options for their respective areas.

A personal-use Landfill Usage Card is required, and can be obtained at the MD office, located at 4202–50 Street in Spirit River. Residents will be asked to verify their name and land location when accessing the site.
