Heavy rainfall possible.

What: Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm. Local amounts may exceed 50 mm.

When: This afternoon through Monday morning.

Additional information: Widespread showers with embedded thunderstorms are expected. Local rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm, especially for areas that receive thunderstorms. Rainfall warnings may be required. Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas.

Meet Firefighter Brandon

This week, we're featuring Firefighter Brandon, who has been serving with the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department since December 2024 and is based out of the Strathroy Station.

When asked what he enjoys most about being a firefighter, Brandon says it's the friendships and strong bonds that are built with fellow members of the department. He also admits there's nothing quite like hearing the unmistakable sound of the Q siren.

Outside of the fire service, Brandon enjoys spending time with family and friends, following his favourite sports including hockey, baseball, and football, and relaxing at the cottage whenever he gets the chance.

Thank you, Brandon, for your dedication and commitment to serving the Strathroy-Caradoc community. We are proud to have you on our team!

Camping and cottage nights are for relaxing - not reacting

With peak season in full swing, campfires and BBQs are everywhere. But one unattended flame can spread fast in dry conditions.

Don’t leave it till it’s out:
✔ Pour water on it
✔ Stir it up to ensure no hidden embers
✔ Make sure it’s completely cool

Because the only thing that should be spreading this summer is good vibes.

Locally significant rainfall possible this weekend.

What: Local rainfall amounts exceeding 50 mm.

When: Saturday morning through early Sunday morning.

Additional information: Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over southwestern Ontario in the morning before moving into the Greater Golden Horseshoe in the afternoon. Given the potential for slow-moving showers and thunderstorms and for some areas to receive multiple rounds of precipitation, local amounts exceeding 50 mm are possible. Note that rainfall amounts will be highly variable across the region and not all areas will receive this much rain. There remains considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts. Additional showers are expected through Sunday, especially to the east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Don't drive through flooded roadways. Avoid low-lying areas. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources office.

🔥 Firefighter Friday Spotlight 🔥
Meet Captain Jason

This week, we're recognizing Captain Jason from our Mount Brydges Station, who has been serving with the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department since January 2013.

When asked what he enjoys most about being a firefighter, Jason doesn't hesitate — it's being part of an amazing group of people. The strong sense of teamwork, camaraderie, and dedication among the members of the department makes the fire service a rewarding experience and keeps him coming back year after year.

Outside of the fire hall, Jason stays busy cheering on his two daughters as they compete in fastball, soccer, and synchronized skating. When he finds some free time for himself, he enjoys hitting the ice for a game of hockey.

Thank you, Jason, for your commitment to the department, your fellow firefighters, and the Mount Brydges community over the past 13 years.
