Weโ€™re happy to celebrate April Zhong, founder of Chess for Connection , who has been named the recipient of the 2026 Sean Jackson Scholarship Award for her leadership, academic achievement and commitment to positive social change.

Through our Senior Active Living Centre (SALC), SPLC was pleased to partner with Chess for Connection to offer a free weekly chess program at SPLC, bringing youth and seniors together for a friendly game of chess and a chance to connect across generations.

What started with a game of chess has created opportunities for conversation, friendship and shared moments. Weโ€™re grateful to April and the young volunteers who have helped make these connections possible. ๐Ÿ’›

On a sunny day in August, our Tamil Seniors Support Group enjoyed a fun-filled outing at Kidstown Park! ๐ŸŒž

It was wonderful to see the community spirit, joyful moments, and beautiful smiles shared throughout the day. The outing gave seniors an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, connect with one another, and create special memories together.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ SPLC was happy to provide a delicious meal for everyone to enjoy. Sharing a meal together made the day even more special, bringing everyone together around good food and great company.
