One of the many things that makes Little Discoveries Early Learning Cooperative unique is our full-sized gymnasium. This incredible space allows us to provide opportunities that many early learning centres simply can't.
Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Saskatchewan Band Association to perform for all of our children. Every classroom gathered together to enjoy a lively concert featuring songs from beloved Disney movies. The gym was filled with smiles as the children danced, clapped, and sang along to the music. It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to live musical performances while creating lasting memories together.
After the performance, the learning continued as the musicians invited the children to come up and explore the instruments. The children had the opportunity to touch many of the instruments, learn what they were called, discover how they worked, and hear how each one produced its unique sound. This hands-on experience sparked curiosity and excitement, giving the children a chance to connect with music in a fun and interactive way.
The Saskatchewan Band Association shared the following about their program:
"The Saskatchewan Band Association is a nonprofit dedicated to the development and promotion of band music throughout the province. The SBA Summer Ensemble is a group of talented young musicians made up of SBA summer staff whose goal is to expand the awareness of band music, making it accessible and completely free of charge for all kinds of audiences around the province. To date, the group has played at over 50 locations for more than 1,200 people!"
We are thankful to the Saskatchewan Band Association for taking the time to visit our Centre and inspire our children through the joy of music. Experiences like these help foster creativity, imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
