The Whycocomagh Public Library is pleased to announce that we will be hosting three workshops, over the next month, run by Parks Canada.
❓What You’ll Do:
📜Archaeology 101
Become an archaeologist for the day as you investigate real artifacts from the Fortress of Louisbourg. Examine glass, ceramic, and metal objects to uncover clues about the people who used them and what they reveal about daily life, trade, and social class. Then end the day with a conservation puzzle and a stratigraphy colouring activity.
⚓Knotical Navigation
Learn how people crossed the ocean and found safe harbours. Activities include using "telescopes" to identify constellations, building a lighthouse from a water bottle, playing lighthouse trivia and a captain's orders game, and learning useful boating knots.
🌱Food Webs
Discover local wildlife by exploring herbivores, carnivores, and food webs. Participants identify animal footprints, build a food web on a magnetic board, make play-dough animal tracks, and compare replica skulls to learn how different animals have adapted to their environment and prey.
