Το Υπουργείο Παιδείας και Πολιτισµού στo πλαίσιo της προσπάθειάς του για την Ανάπτυξη του Έντεχνου Χορού στον τόπο µας, εισήγαγε το 2001 το θεσµό της «Πλατφόρµας Χορού-Χορευτικές Συναντήσεις».
Ο θεσµός της Πλατφόρµας έχει συµβάλει σε µεγάλο βαθµό στην ανάπτυξη του Χορού στην Κύπρο, προβάλλοντας το δηµιουργικό έργο των καλλιτεχνών και των διαφόρων χορευτικών σχηµάτων στον τοµέα του σύγχρονου χορού
. Ο θεσµός αναδεικνύει τον πλούτο της δηµιουργίας, της φαντασίας, της έµπνευσης των Κυπρίων χορογράφων καθώς και τη σκληρή δουλειά, τις ικανότητες και την τεχνική δεξιότητα των Κυπρίων χορευτών, στοιχεία που συνολικά συµβάλλουν στην επιτυχία και αναβάθµιση του χορού.
Παράλληλα, η Πλατφόρµα ανοίγει παράθυρο, προσφέροντας ευκαιρίες τόσο στους δηµιουργούς όσο και στους χορευτές να υπερπηδήσουν τα γεωγραφικά και γλωσσικά σύνορα και να γίνουν οι πρεσβευτές της Κύπρου στη διεθνή πολιτιστική σκηνή.
«Η Πλατφόρµα Χορού - Χορευτικές Συναντήσεις» πραγµατοποιείται στο Θέατρο Ριάλτο το οποίο έχει και την ευθύνη της συνδιοργάνωσης.
Η πρώτη διοργάνωση πραγµατοποιήθηκε το Μάρτιο του 2001, µε την ονοµασία «Χορευτικές Συναντήσεις» και σε αυτή έλαβαν µέρος τέσσερις οµάδες: Αµφίδροµο Χοροθέατρο, Χοροθέατρο Οµάδα Πέντε, Χοροθέατρο Αριάννας Οικονόµου και Χοροκίνηση Χορευτική Οµάδα.

Η έκτη «Πλατφόρµα Χορού-Χορευτικές Συναντήσεις» έγινε τον Μάρτη του 2006 µε την συµµετοχή δεκατεσσάρων συνολικά οµάδων: Οµάδα Χορού Κύµα, Streetbeats, Echo Arts, Οµάδα Σώµα, Πέλµα, Οµάδα Χορού Σύνθεσις, Εν ∆ράσει, Χοροθέατρο Οµάδα 5, Αµφίδροµο Χοροθέατρο, Jeneusses Musicales (Αλέξανδρος Μιχαήλ), Noema Dance Works, Interact, Solipsism, Οµάδα Χορού Σέλας. Αποτέλεσε την πρώτη διοργάνωση Πλατφόρµας χωρίς διαγωνιστικό χαρακτήρα.
Το 2007, η έβδοµη Πλατφόρµα Χορού περιλάµβανε οκτώ συµµετοχές µε τις οµάδες Εν ∆ράσει, Χοροθέατρο Οµάδα Πέντε, ΙnterAct, Noema Dance Works, Jeneusses Musicales, Pelma, Soma, Echo Arts. Aπό το 2007 η Πλατφόρµα άρχισε να εµπλουτίζεται µε παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις όπως έκθεση φωτογραφίας, προβολές παραστάσεων χορού, και να στηρίζεται ουσιαστικά από το ∆ήµο Λεµεσού.
Το 2008 έλαβαν µέρος στην Πλατφόρµα οι έντεκα πιο κάτω οµάδες: ΙnterAct, Jeneusses Musicales (Αλέξανδρος Μιχαήλ), Αέλιον, Εν ∆ράσει, Echo Arts, Αµφίδροµο Χοροθέατρο, Επιλογή (Έλενα Αντωνίου), Χοροθέατρο Οµάδα Πέντε, Noema Dance Works, Soma και Εν Χορώ.
Ο στόχος να εµπλουτιστεί η διοργάνωση µε παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις συνεχίστηκε και το 2008, όταν για πρώτη φορά, παράλληλα µε την Πλατφόρµα διοργανώθηκε το ‘Dance Throughout the year’, στη Στέγη Σύγχρονου Χορού Λεµεσού η οποία συµµετέχει πλέον ενεργά στην όλη διοργάνωση. Παρουσιάστηκε επίσης η έκθεση φωτογραφίας, σχεδίου και video «Φως Γραµµή» των Χρήστου Αβρααµίδη και Ηorst Weierstall στο ΑRTSTUDIO 55.
Στην πλατφόρµα του 2009 έλαβαν µέρος 11 οµάδες: Μουσικά Νιάτα Κύπρου, Οµάδα Πέντε, Αέλιον, Σώµα, Solipsism, Noema Dance Works, One/Off, Echo Art, Ιnteract, pelma.lia haraki και Σύνθεσεις.
Σε συνεργασία µε την Στέγη Σύγχρονου Χορού Λεµεσού διοργανώθηκαν επίσης παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις µε τίτλο Talking Dance στο οποίο µίλησαν οι Guy Cools και Kitt Johnson ενώ διοργανώθηκε και συζήτηση στρογγυλής τραπέζης για θέµατα χορού.
Η δέκατη Πλατφόρµα Χορού το 2010 ήταν ιδιαίτερα πλούσια σε συµµετοχές, µε δώδεκα γνωστές οµάδες: One/Off, Χοροθέατρο Οµάδα Πέντε, Αέλιον, Σύνθεσις, Αµφίδροµο, Noema Dance Works, Εν δράσει, Ασώµατες ∆υνάµεις, Σέλας, Echo Arts, Πέλµα Λια Χαράκη, και΄Ελενα Αντωνίου και οκτώ καινούριες οµάδες Έρικα Χαραλάµπους, Nothing to Declare, David Wood, Sonido-Nad, Arttitude, Στυλιάνα Αριστείδου, Natalie Heller και Transfiguratio.
Για την 10η Πλατφόρµα Χορου διοργανώθηκαν από τη Στέγη Σύγχρονου Χορού οι Παράλληλες Εκδηλώσεις, ‘Dance Throughout the year’ µε παράσταση από την Έµιλυ Παπαλοίζου, Έυη ∆ηµητρίου και το Γιώργο Σίσαµο και την Milena Ugren Κούλας όπως επίσης και συζήτηση στρογγυλής τραπέζης µε τις οµάδες που έλαβαν µέρος στη Πλατφόρµα.
Τρεις από τις οµάδες που έλαβαν µέρος διακρίθηκαν στην Πλατφόρµα Χορού και εκπροσώπησαν την Κύπρο στο 13ο Ευρωπαικό Φεστιβάλ Χορού τον Ιούνιο του 2010: Πέλµα Λια Χαράκη, Αέλιον και Αµφίδροµο.
Στην 11η Πλατφόρμα Χορού, συμμετείχαν 8 νεοεισερχόμενες ομάδες, Νothing to Declare, Βανέσσα Χάσκα, Artittude, Αντώνης Αντωνίου, Έλσα Σουρουλά, Αριάνα Μαρκουλίδου, Λοίζος Κωνσταντίνου και Φούλη Στυλιανίδου αλλά και 7 γνωστές ομάδες από παλαιότερες συμμετοχές, Ασώματες Δυνάμεις, Αέλιον, Echo Arts, Ομάδα Πέντε, Speira Art και Αλέξανδρος Μιχαήλ.
Στο ίδιο πλαίσιο πραγματοποιήθηκε το Dance Throughout the Year από τη Στέγη Σύγχρονου Χορού Λεμεσού με τις παραστάσεις της Έλενας Αντωνίου και της ομάδας Εν Δράσει, το χορογραφικό σεμινάριο της Emilyn Claid και την συζήτηση στρογγυλής τραπέζης με τον Donald Hutera.
Η παράσταση του Λοίζου Κωνσταντίνου και της ομάδας Νoema Dance Works εκπροσώπησαν την Κύπρο στο Ευρωπαϊκό Φεστιβάλ Χορού Ιούνιος 2011
Dance Platform
Τhe Ministry of Education and Culture had the initiative to introduce and establish “Dance Platform - Dance Encounters” as an institution in 2001. The Platform has contributed enormously to the advancement of Dance in Cyprus by exposing works by artists and different dance groups in the field of contemporary dance. It reveals the richness of creativity, imagination and determination of the choreographers, as well as, the hard work and skills of the dancers all of which enable Cyprus Dance to succeed and prosper. The institution opens, at the same time, a window of opportunity for both creators and dancers to overcome linguistic and geographical boundaries and become ambassadors in the International Cultural scene.
“Dance Encounters” are hosted and co-organised by the Rialto Theatre. The first event was organised in March 2001 under the name “Dance Encounters”, and included the participation of the following groups: Amphidromo Chorotheatro, Chorotheatro Omada Pente, Chorotheatro Arianna Economou and Chorokinisi Choreftiki Omada.

In March 2002 it was renamed “Platform of Creative Dance” and the following groups participated in the second event: Synthesis Dance Group, Chorotheatro Omada Pente, Amphidromo Chorotheatro and Chorotheatro Arianna Economou.

The sixth Dance Platform took place in March 2006 with the participation of fourtneen grups. Kyma, Streebeats, Echo Artds, Omada Soma, Pelma, Omada Horou Synthesis, En Drasi, Chorotheatro Omada 5, Amphidrono Chorotheatro, Jenunesses Musicales (Alexandros Michael), Noema Dance Works, InterAct, Solipsim, Selas Dance Company. In 2007, the 7th Dance Platform included eight participations with the groups En Drasi, Chorotheatro Omada Pente, InterAct, Noema Dance Works, Jeneusses Musicales, Pelma,Soma, Echo Arts. As of this year, an effort to enrich the Platform was initiated with the organisation of parallel events such as a photo exhibition and projections of dance performances. In 2008, the following groups participated at the Dance Platform:
Interact, Jeunesses Musicales (Alexander Michael), Aelion Dance Co. En Drasi, Echo Arts, Amfidromo Chorotheatro, Epilogi (Elena Antoniou), Chrotheatro Omada Pende, Noema Dance Works, Soma, Enhoro
The effort to help this event grow and further develop continued at 2008. For the first time, the event “Dance Throughout the Year” was presented alongside the Dance Platform, at Dance House Lemesos which since last year participates actively to the platform organisation. Another parallel event was the exhibition of photographs, drawings and video Light Line by Christos Avraamides and Horst Weierstall at ARTSTUDIO 55. In 2009, the following groups participated at the Dance Platform: Jeunesses Musicales, Chrotheatro Omada Pende, Aelion Dance Co., Soma, Solipsism, Noema Dance Works, One/Off, Echo Arts, Interact, Amfidromo Chorotheatro, pelma.lia haraki, Sinthesis
The parallel events continued and this year in cooperation with the Dance House Lemesos and included: Talking Dance, a theoretical framework to the Cyprus Dance platform. Within this framework, two lectures took place by Europe’s leading dramaturge Guy Cools (Belgium) and artist Kitt Johnson (Denmark) and a round table discussion. The 10th Contemporary Dance Platform in 2010 had very high participation, with known dance groups of past participations such as One / Off, Chorotheatro Omada Pente, Aelion, Synthesis, Amfidromo, Noema Dance Works, En Drasi, Selas, Asomates Dinameis, Echo Arts, Pelma Lia Haraki, and Elena Antoniou and eight newcomer teams Erica Charalambous, Nothing to Declare, David Wood, Sonido-Nad, Arttitude, Stiliana Aristeidou, Natalie Heller and Transfiguratio. Framing the 10th Dance Platform were the Parallel Events ‘Dance Throughout the year’ organized by the Dance House Lemesos with a performance by Emily Papaloizou, Evi Dimitriou and George Sisamos and Milena Ugren Koula, as well as, the Round Table discussion with the participants of the Dance Platform. Three groups were distinguished at the Dance Platform and represented Cyprus at the 13th European Dance Festival in June 2010 such as Pelma Lia Haraki, Aelion and Amfidromo. At the 11th Contemporary Dance Platform, 8 newcomer dance groups participated which were Nothing to Declare, Vanessa Haska, Artittude, Antonis Antoniou, Elsa Souroula, Arianna Marcoulides, Loizos Constantinou and Fouli Stylianidou, as well as 7 well known groups from past participations Asomates Dinameis, AELION, Echo Arts, Omada Pende, Speira Art Group and Alexander Michael. Dance Throughout the year was organized by Dance House Lemesos within the framework of the Contemporary Dance Platform, with the performances of Elena Antoniou and the dance group En Drasi by Evie Demetriou, a choreographic seminar with Emilyn Claid and the Round Table Discussion with Donald Hutera. At the 14th European Dance Festival 2011, the team of Konstantinos Loizou and the team of Alexandra Waierstall, NOEMA DANCE WORKS represented Cyprus.
