📌 : The 65th German-American Volksfest will take place July 31 through Aug. 2 at Camp Algier on the Grafenwoehr Training Area.

This annual celebration brings together German and American communities in a spirit of friendship and shared culture—living, working, and celebrating side by side. Enjoy carnival rides, beer tents, German and American food, displays of military equipment, retail booths, music, and dancing. With live performances from both German and American bands, Volksfest offers a family-friendly experience for all.

▪️It’s recommended to wear sturdy shoes as the fest area is not paved.
▪️Pets are not recommended and are not allowed on shuttle buses; however, service dogs are allowed.
▪️Bicycles and scooters are not allowed on the fest ground; they must be left in the parking area.
▪️Please ensure you bring sufficient cash to the festival. Most ride operators and food vendors accept cash payments only. For your convenience, both U.S. Dollars and Euros are accepted throughout the festival grounds. Please plan ahead, as there will be only one ATM available on-site. 💵💶

Opening Hours:
▪️Friday, July 31: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
▪️Saturday, Aug. 1: 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
▪️Sunday, Aug. 2: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

ℹ️Getting to the Volksfest:

🛂Access to the installation:
▪️100% identification check of all occupants will occur.
▪️Occupants over the age of 16 must provide an authorized government issued photo ID to the guard to be allowed entry. Children under the age of 16 will be granted access if accompanied by a family member or legal guardian of legal age (18).

✅The following documents are authorized for access:
▪️Valid passports/Valid personal ID card from European Union countries
▪️Installation pass/DBIDS card
▪️Department of War identification cards
▪️Temporary German ID

🚫The following documents are not authorized:
▪️Travel documents
▪️U.S. passport card
▪️Driver's licenses
▪️Residence permits
▪️Refugee IDs/Substitute ID
▪️Fake/manipulated ID cards

🚐Off-post Shuttle Buses:
▪️We highly recommend visitors utilize the designated off-post parking areas and shuttle bus services located at:
📍 #1 Waldbad (Outdoor Pool, Diessfurter Straße)
📍 #2 Volunteer Fire Department (Thumbachstraße 73)
📍 #3 Former German Post Office (Alte Amberger Straße)
📍 #4 Gruenderzentrum (B-299, across from Gate 6)
▪️Schedule: Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m. | Sunday: 11 a.m.-12:30 a.m.
▪️Tickets & Pricing:
🔹€2 one way / €4 round trip.
🔹Payment: CASH ONLY – EUROS ONLY.
🔹Where to buy: Ticket booths operated by the German Volunteer Fire Department will be located at every single bus stop.
🔹You must purchase your ticket before boarding the bus.
🔹 Free to ride: Children 14 and under, and severely handicapped individuals (with a pass marked "B" for an accompanying person).
▪️Pets are not permitted on off-post shuttle buses; however, service dogs are allowed.

🚍On-post Shuttle Buses:
▪️We highly recommend U.S. Department of War-affiliated personnel, utilize the on-post shuttle bus service that will run from the Tower Barracks (Grafenwoehr) Main Exchange and the Rose Barracks (Vilseck) PXtra (Exchange). These shuttles will take you directly to the festival grounds.
▪️On-post shuttles are for Department of War ID card holders and are free.
▪️Schedule: Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m. | Sunday: 11 a.m.-12:30 a.m.
▪️Shuttles will run every 30 minutes, but times may vary based on traffic during the fest.
▪️Pets are not permitted on off-post shuttle buses; however, service dogs are allowed.

🚙Personal Vehicles:
▪️Entrance: All vehicle traffic must enter Tower Barracks via Gate 6 (B299/Traffic Circle Gate).
▪️Hours: Gate 6 opens for festival traffic at 10 a.m. (Early arrivals will be turned away).
▪️Process: All vehicles and passengers are subject to search. Cleared vehicles will be directed to a designated parking area, where shuttle buses will transport you to the festival grounds for free. Pets are not allowed on shuttle buses; however, service animals are allowed.
▪️Accessibility: Handicap parking is available on-site. Please notify the traffic control staff and have your placard/decal ready.
▪️Vehicles from the host nation must display an EU parking handicap permit (light blue) clearly visible to obtain access.
▪️All U.S. vehicles need to display their DMV-issued handicap permits for access.

🚫Prohibited Items:
▪️Large bags, including rucksacks or backpacks (diaper bags will be allowed). No larger than 20cm x 20cm x 30cm.
▪️Any/all weapons, to include knives or any type of cutting device or multi-tool (chainsaw/knives/tools), impact weapons, air soft guns, any type of chemical irritants (pepper spray).
▪️Beverage containers of any type, to include water bottles, alcoholic (canned or bottled), energy drinks, soda, etc. (excludes baby bottles/formula)
▪️Any non-prescription drugs and/or drug paraphernalia.
▪️Any type of fireworks or incendiary devices.
▪️Any type of cooler or picnic basket.
▪️No bicycles/scooters on the fest ground allowed, they must be left in the parking area.

: U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria will conduct a Force Protection Exercise on Tower Barracks and Rose Barracks, Monday, July 20, between 2–3 p.m.

Expect delays at gates and follow instructions from Military Police and gate guards.

We will share an update as soon as the gates reopen and traffic returns to normal.
