Yap FM - According to AccuWeather, the weather forecast for tomorrow is partly cloudy with isolated showers. Temperatures are expected to be as high as 87 degrees and as low as 78 degrees. The rainfall percentage is expected to be 55%.

According to the Yap Weather Services Office, Tomorrow's tide schedule is as follows: the first high tide will be at 12:11 AM, reaching approximately 6.12 feet. This will be followed by a low tide at 6:58 AM, with a height of approximately 2.77 feet. The last high tide will be at 1:15 PM, with a height of approximately 5.17 feet.

Yap FM - Yap Communicable Disease Report for Epidemiological Week 30, covering the period of July 20-26, 2026. This report presents a comprehensive overview of syndromic trends and activities from 23 sentinel sites across the state, including laboratory‑confirmed cases, public health updates, and recommendations.

Total Encounters: 452 patient encounters were reported across 23 sentinel sites, with all reported syndrome counts below the threshold this week.

Diarrhea: A dip in diarrheal cases is observed this week with 1 case reported by Ulithi Health Center. Alternatively, the laboratory detected enteric pathogens—including Salmonella, Shigella/EIEC, Enteroaggregative E. coli (EAEC), Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC), Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC), Norovirus, Rotavirus A, Sapovirus, and Giardia lamblia—with co‑infections identified in three of four patients confirmed this week.

Influenza-Like Illness (ILI): ILI decreased this week with 8 cases reported by OPD Main Hospital (5), Marbaa CHC (2), and Ulithi Health Center in Falalop (1). From the ILI cases, 1 was lab-confirmed as Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

Dengue-Like Illness (DLI): OPD reported 1 DLI case. A separate case was confirmed by lab as leptospirosis.

Prolonged Fever: Syndromic surveillance recorded one encounter at the OPD Main Hospital involving a two‑year‑old female infant presenting with prolonged fever lasting more than three days.

Total Syndromic Cases: 11 cases reported across sentinel sites.

Yap FM - In July 2026, Pacific Mission Aviation continued its mission of connecting island communities with a total of 21 flights to Ulithi, 5 flights to Fais, and 2 flights that hopped between Ulithi and Fais before making its way back to Yap.

Pacific Mission Aviation also had 4 flights to Woleai, 5 flights that flew from Koror, Palau to Yap and then back to Koror, Palau, 2 flights from Yap to Palau, and 3 flights that flew to Palau and stayed overnight before making their way back to Yap the next day.

Overall, these flights have accommodated over 490 passengers traveling between islands to gain access to essential air transportation services.

Yap FM - This past Saturday, August 1, the Reey Conservation Area hosted its "Back to School" Carnival at 11:00 a.m. at Malay Sunset Park.

The event began with a variety of fun-filled mini games, including a candy race, dodgeball, soda hop, balloon toss, musical chairs, copra relay, basket weaving, and tug-of-war. Families, children, and community members enjoyed an afternoon of friendly competition and laughter.

To wrap up the celebration, the Reey Conservation Area held a raffle drawing, featured two hula performances, and provided live entertainment, bringing the event to a festive close. The carnival served as a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the start of the new school year.

YAP FM - Last Friday, July 31, the Division of Youth Services hosted a Movie Night at the Yap Living History Museum beginning at 6:00 p.m., attracting more than 100 participants.

The event began with participant registration, followed by an exciting icebreaker game, "Footloose," which encouraged interaction and helped create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

After the game, participants gathered to watch a short cybersecurity awareness video before the featured movie was screened. The presentation was intended to educate young people about the importance of cybersecurity and safe online practices. As youth continue to spend more time on the internet and social media, it is essential to raise awareness about online risks and promote responsible digital citizenship.

At 7:00 p.m., members of the Division of Youth Services, together with the Youth Planning Committee, distributed snacks and popcorn to participants as they enjoyed the movie selected by the Division of Youth Services.

The event concluded at 10:00 p.m. Before closing, members of the Division of Youth Services and the Youth Planning Committee thanked everyone for attending and expressed their appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and support. The successful turnout reflected the community's continued interest in positive, engaging, and educational youth activities.

Yap FM - On July 31st, the WED team shared highlights of their recent visit to Yap Catholic High School for an engaging and interactive career outreach session aimed at encouraging students to explore their future opportunities with confidence and purpose.

From the moment the session began, students demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and curiosity. They actively participated in discussions, asked thoughtful questions, and eagerly shared their ideas about education, career pathways, and their aspirations for the future. Their energy and willingness to engage made the event both meaningful and rewarding for everyone involved.

Throughout the session, the WED team highlighted the importance of career planning, lifelong learning, and preparing for the evolving workforce. Students were encouraged to think about their interests, strengths, and goals while learning about the resources and opportunities available to help them make informed decisions about their futures.

WED extends its sincere appreciation to the administration, faculty, and staff of Yap Catholic High School for their warm hospitality and support in making this outreach visit a success. Yap FM - On Friday, July 31, the Division of Youth Services, in collaboration with the Workforce Enrichment Division (WED), successfully conducted its fourth workshop for participants of the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program and the Rising Program.

The workshop commenced with opening remarks from Ms. Slatelynna L., who warmly welcomed participants and encouraged them to actively engage throughout the session by asking questions and participating in discussions.

Following her introduction, Ms. Slatelynna welcomed the first guest speaker, Attorney General Viliame Lagonilakeba.

In his address, Attorney General Lagonilakeba spoke on the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and the importance of equipping the younger generation to navigate an increasingly technology-driven world. He encouraged participants to embrace their individuality while remaining grounded in their values and cultural identity, reminding them to always remember where they come from regardless of the paths they choose in life. He also emphasized five fundamental values that contribute to both personal and professional success: humility, gratitude, respect, responsibility, and honesty. Concluding his presentation, Attorney General Lagonilakeba presented participants with sweet treats as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement.

Ms. Slatelynna then introduced the workshop's final speaker, Ms. Vivian L. During her presentation, Ms. Vivian acknowledged the participants' commitment and highlighted that both the OJT and Rising Program cohorts are nearing the successful completion of their respective programs. She also outlined the employment and professional development opportunities available through the Workforce Enrichment Division upon program completion, encouraging participants to continue building on the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout their training.
