Come and join us at Basildon Library on the first Wednesday of the month between 10.30am to 12noon to chat, vent and exchange ideas and stories with fellow SEND parents. This relaxed, supportive session is facilitated by SPACE.

SPACE is a service which is part of The Essex Local Offer. They are a team of Peer Educators who are all parents and carers. They have lived experience of supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). They understand the journey and are here to help you navigate it, wherever you are and whatever stage you're at.

Children welcome but not necessary. If children attend they must be supervised at all times. No formal diagnosis needed. FREE and no need to book, just pop in! Term time only.

The next talk takes place this Saturday 30 May at Vange Library ☺️

Join us at Vange Library for a trio of talks by local historian Norman Bainbridge. The talks will start at 10.30 last about an hour with a short Q&A after with refreshments.

Saturday 2 May 2026 at 10.30 - London Prisons, this talk will introduce you to the records that help us to trace and reconstruct the stories of those ancestors of ours who, for one reason or another, came into contact with the law. We will see that they don’t just tell us about the people who committed the crimes, a whole host of other names appear in the records; witnesses, police officers, judges, jurors and, of course, the victims of the crimes.

Saturday 30 May 2026 at 10.30 - By 1914 the Post Office employed over 250,000 people with a revenue of £32 million making it the biggest economic enterprise in Britain and the largest single employer of labour in the world. Find out how this service was crucial during the WW1

Saturday 27 June 2026 at 10.30 - Could your relative be a witch? Essex was the epicentre of witch-hunting in 16th and 17th-century England, with up to 1,000 people accused, particularly around Chelmsford, Colchester, and Manningtree.
