A huge congratulations to three of our colleagues who have received Gold Star of Life Awards at the National Ambulance LGBT+ Conference. 👏

Tom, Dan and Sara were recognised for their outstanding contributions to the ambulance LGBT+ community.

The conference brought together colleagues from ambulance services across the UK to connect, share best practice and celebrate the people making a positive difference.

Meet Carol and Lee, two of our volunteer chaplains supporting our colleagues across the North West.
As part of our brand-new volunteer role, they’re there to offer a friendly face, a listening ear and a safe space for staff to talk, particularly during challenging times.
With decades of healthcare and volunteering experience between them, Carol and Lee are helping make sure our people know there’s someone there when they need a little extra support. 💙

A huge congratulations to Carolyn Wood and Fran Balon, who have both been recognised for their work championing disability inclusion through the National Ambulance Disability Network (NADN).

Carolyn, Director of Finance and Executive Sponsor of the NWAS Disability Network, was highly commended in the Driving Positive Change for Disabled Staff category👏

Fran, Speaking Up and Clinical Project Support Officer and Co-Chair of the NWAS Disability Network, was named winner of the Tom Heywood Award, recognising her dedication to making a difference for disabled staff, patients and communities🏆

A second chance at life ❤️

What started as a summer BBQ with family and friends quickly turned into a terrifying fight for David’s life.

After choking on a piece of food, David collapsed and stopped breathing. His wife Nicola called 999 and, guided by our calm call handler Jessica, started CPR.

Our ambulance crew, paramedics Francesca and Tony, and Emergency Medical Technician Chloe, arrived and began treating David. They were supported by a crew form Great North Air Ambulance Service and volunteer doctor responder Theo from BEEP Doctors.

Thanks to everyone involved, David survived and is now back home, well and enjoying life with Nicola.

The couple recently reunited with some of those who helped save David and are now encouraging others to learn CPR.

Because you never know when you might need it. ❤️

A huge congratulations to Mike Pain and Brandon Leigh, two of our community first responder volunteers, who have been recognised at the Wilmslow Town Council Community Awards 2026. 👏

Mike, an eCFR, has volunteered with us for an incredible 16 years, and Brandon has been a community first responder for eight years. 🫶

Their dedication to supporting local people and providing an early response to certain emergencies has earned them a community award in the ‘Outstanding Support for Emergency Services’ category. 🏆

As part of our 20th anniversary year, our executive directors have been busy surprising staff while on shift🎉

Everyone featured here was nominated by their colleagues for the difference they make, the support they give to others and the positive impact they have every day.

In a job like ours, it can be easy to forget to stop and recognise the people who quietly get on with doing an amazing job.
