Interesting one for us today.

Old school Honda S2000. What a fun little machine.

Cat 1 alarm system remote failure. As you can see.. The existing remote had several switches break off. With these systems it's a fixed blade ignition with a transponder Thatcham remote.

Existing MCU cleaned up and new switches to be soldered back on.

New remote programmed and fully operational.

One very happy customer!

🚐 We’re heading up to Caithness!

We'll be in the area carrying out coding clusters, programming keys, and resolving immobiliser issues. If you've been putting something off, now's a great time to get in touch while we're nearby.

We're fully stocked and ready to go, so if you need assistance, drop us a message and we'll do our best to fit you in.

A quick update from us too — we have a new family addition arriving soon! 👶 Because of this, for a short period we'll be staying a little more local and prioritising emergency call-outs only. We'll still be available, but our travel range will be more limited than usual while we settle into this exciting new chapter.

IGNITION BARRELS 🥸❗❗❗

Ignition barrel faults are becoming increasingly common, and most of them come down to the same underlying issue: mechanical components inside the barrel simply wearing beyond their design tolerance. Over time, the tiny wafers, springs, and alignment tracks inside the unit start to fatigue. Once they lose their precision, the key begins to stick, turn inconsistently, or stop turning altogether.

In some vehicles, the internal collapse can be quite sudden. When that happens, the steering lock can seize and the whole system becomes immobilised — even if the key, fob, and battery are all perfectly fine.

Highland conditions don’t help either. Moisture, grit, and constant temperature swings accelerate internal corrosion, which is why we’re seeing more of these failures locally.

We carry a wide range of on‑board stock for the most common barrel systems, and we source specialist units for the more unusual models. Every repair is carried out using professional diagnostic and programming equipment to ensure the vehicle is res
tored to manufacturer-level standards.
