πŸ”‹ Don't Bin It. Recycle It. Prevent Fires. πŸš’

Fife Council and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are joining forces to raise awareness of the risks associated with lithium-ion batteries and the importance of safe disposal.

Did you know many everyday items contain rechargeable batteries?

From vapes and mobile phones to power banks, electric toothbrushes, toys and wireless earbuds, batteries are all around us.

When batteries are damaged or incorrectly disposed of in household bins, they can be crushed during waste collection and processing. This can potentially start a fire, putting waste workers, firefighters and local communities at risk.

You can help prevent battery fires:

πŸ”‹ Recycle batteries and electrical items safely
⚑ Use the correct charger and follow the manufacturer's instructions
🚫 Never use or charge a damaged battery
🏠 Never charge devices while you're asleep or away from home
Together, we can help reduce the risk of battery fires and keep our communities safer.

πŸš’πŸ‘©β€πŸš’ Today, Louise and Amber Watch from Easterhouse attended GESH Community Centre to support the Job Fair organised by FARE Scotland.

The event provided a great opportunity to engage with local people and share information about the wide range of careers available within the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, including both operational (uniformed) and support staff roles.

It was fantastic to meet so many individuals interested in learning more about the fire service and the rewarding opportunities available to help keep our communities safe. πŸ”₯πŸ’™

πŸš’ Cowcaddens Green Watch recently attended a familiarisation visit to Glasgow Airport Fire Service.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen our working relationship, refresh our knowledge, and enhance our understanding of airport fire and emergency procedures.

A very informative and worthwhile visit. Thank you to the team at Glasgow Airport Fire Service for their time and hospitality.

In the wrong hands gas work can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions or carbon monoxide poisoning. If there’s a problem with your gas appliance, don’t try to fix it yourself. Always use a qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
