National Lottery – Small Eco Awards

The National Lottery has launched a new Small Eco Awards fund to support local environmental action and sustainability initiatives.

Projects could include activities such as:
• Community growing and food projects
• Biodiversity and greenspace improvements
• Waste reduction and recycling initiatives (not food projects sadly).
• Climate action and environmental awareness activities
• Other community-led environmental projects

A new funding opportunity is now open through the
Scottish Government's Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES), delivered by .

The Community Energy Growth Fund supports eligible Scottish community organisations to develop, build and own renewable energy projects, creating long-term local benefits while supporting Scotland's net zero ambitions.

NOTICE OF CONSULTATION ON THE DISPOSAL / CHANGE OF USE OF COMMON GOOD PROPERTY

Angus Council is considering a proposal to grant a long-term lease of Montrose Golf Links to Montrose Golf Links Ltd (MGLL), with day-to-day operation of the courses being undertaken by The Ancient Links Golf Company Ltd (ALGC).

As the area is held as part of Montrose Common Good, before taking a decision, the Council requires to consult under Section 104 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.

ANGUS COUNCIL PUBLIC NOTICE

Angus Council has received a request to grant a servitude right of access over The Den, Southesk Street Brechin DD9 6AG to serve a residential development at the former Infirmary. As the land is held as part of Brechin Common Good, before taking a decision, the Council requires to consult under Section 104 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.

Common Good Property:
Named as The Den, Southesk Street Brechin DD9 6AG

The servitude right of access is required for surface water drainage. The right of servitude would be subject to all footpaths, hedges and grass areas affected by works to be reinstated to the satisfaction of Angus Council. The Park would continue to form part of the Brechin Common Good.

Arnold Clark Gear Up for Sport

Arnold Clark's Gear Up For Sport campaign helps youth teams across Scotland, England and Wales look and feel the part.

Provision of free training equipment to teams aged 4-15, this includes training balls, a ball bag, space markers, water bottles, mesh bibs and more depending on your type of sport. We want to support our local clubs and strengthen the communities they represent.

We are now accepting applications for training equipment only.

😎 Join us this summer for fun-filled afternoons packed with arts and crafts, music, science, games and much more! Enjoy free activities and a snack at each session.

👉 Arbroath – Thursday 16 July, Victoria Park
👉 Forfar – Wednesday 22 July, Steele Park
👉 Montrose – Wednesday 29 July, Butterfly Park

All sessions 2-4pm. No booking required.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. For the science activity please wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather.

Funding Support to Improve Local Areas and Community

Have you got a great idea that could benefit your community that needs support or would you like to see improvements in your neighbourhood? We want to work with you to bring your ideas to life, make a difference where you live and create lasting benefits for social housing tenants.

Angus Council is empowering tenants and local community groups with funding and practical support to transform local areas and neighbourhoods. These funds provide direct grants to cover the costs of projects such as communal garden makeovers, picnic benches, greenspace replanting, environmental clean-ups, and community-led regeneration initiatives.

How to apply and get support

The Tenant Participation team is available to help tenants and residents identify shared priorities and work together to improve their local housing areas. We’ll work with you to develop your ideas and explore available funding opportunities. You don’t need to be part of an established group to get involved, if you have an idea that could make a positive difference in your neighbourhood, the team can help you develop your proposal and apply for local or national funding.

Henry Duncan Grants

This year’s Henry Duncan Grants will fund community-based support for mental health in very remote rural areas of Scotland.

They are interested in supporting organisations who are providing mental health support to people experiencing mental ill health or who are in a mental health crisis in very remote rural areas of Scotland.

They anticipate making grants of up to a total of £500,000. Approximately 10 organisations are likely to receive funding.

This round of Henry Duncan Grants will involve a two-stage application process. The closing date for Stage One applications is Thursday 23 July at midday.
