For the past two and a half years, we’ve been researching children’s intersectional experiences of protected characteristics, poverty, and justice. This participatory research, supported by the Nuffield Foundation, was co-designed with a Youth Advisory Group of children aged 14–17, who were central to the project’s design and delivery.

Now, we want to share what they found.

Join us for one of our upcoming events to discuss the research, connect with others, take part in practice-focused discussions and explore what the findings mean for your work.

Events are free, and we will be providing refreshments and lunch at our in person events:

📍Glasgow 23rd September. 9.30 to 13.30. The Boardwalk
📍Perth 2nd October. 10.30 to 14.30. Perth Subud Centre.

Check out our latest blog from CYCJ Practice Development Advisor Lauren Emmerson, where she reflects on her recent trip to Poland for the 13th International Conference of the European Forum for Restorative Justice. In it, she reminds us of the power of healing from harm through dialogue, and the complexity of dual identity for those who have both caused harm and been harmed.

Listen now to Sean's story of how completing the Post graduate certificate in children and young people in conflict with the law has benefitted him and his team.

"This course has changed the way that I and the team that I work with, work with children for the better."

If you're a practitioner working with children and young people, and you want to ensure your work is rights-respecting, this is the course for you. This course has three modules which consider:

💡Key international instruments for children’s rights and child-centred justice, how well these are upheld within your country, and improvements that could be made to be more rights respecting.
💡Key factors that can contribute to children and young people coming into conflict with the law, with a focus on assessment and formulation models and how well these uphold children’s rights.
💡Contemporary intervention approaches for children and young people in conflict with the law and how well these uphold children’s rights.

The next cohort will start in January - don't delay in submitting your application now! This course is delivered in partnership with the University of Strathclyde.
