PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, THIS EVENING around 7pm πŸŒ’
This evening, the UK is set to experience a deep partial Solar Eclipse. Depending upon where you are, the moon will be blocking out 90-96% of the sun.

After that, the next deep partial solar eclipse seen from Britain, and which will block out 90% or more of the sun will not happen here until 14 November 2050 – 24 years away.

The last time the UK experienced a partial solar eclipse that blocked out 90% or more of the sun was 11 years ago on 20 March 2015.

A TOTAL solar eclipse (100% obscuration) over mainland Britain, has not happened since 11 August 1999, when the path crossed Cornwall and parts of Devon. The next total solar eclipse visible from mainland UK will occur on 23 September 2090 – 64 years away!

We note that the eclipse will be happening during the time that our Wednesday Show is usually on. Therefore, we'll be broadcasting an hour later this evening – from 8-9pm.

WRECK OF HMS TIGER, FOUND
This accident in the English Channel, on the night of 2 April 1908, saw the Royal Navy destroyer cut in half by the cruiser HMS Berwick. This article from the Daily Mail yesterday, 11-8-26, tells us that its remains have been found - and includes this very interesting postcard of the victims and survivors. THIS ISN'T "SMUGGLING" 😲
Can we stop calling them "smugglers" who are "people smuggling". Smuggling is something you do in your underpants or suitcase, not blatantly in a 49-ft boat - like nobody's going to notice, and you hope that nobody asks!

Can we start calling them what they are - DANGEROUS CRIMINALS - who must be arrested and imprisoned and severely punished...and then deported!

If you agree with us, then please support our efforts, and get useful knowledge at the same time about the obvious solutions which we've detailed in great depth in "Protect our Country: Policies to Stop Mass Immigration". It is the complete solution.

THE BIBLE VERSE NOBODY QUOTES in the IMMIGRATION DEBATE
Immigration campaigners often argue that Christians have a duty to welcome the stranger. Alistair McConnachie turns to 2 John 1.10-11, which instructs believers not to receive into their house anyone who does not bring the doctrine of Christ.

His argument: if Britain is a Christian country, why does this teaching play no part in our laws β€” and why are we instead bound by the UN Refugee Convention, an entirely secular document?

NO LIMIT TO MIGRANT MEGA-DINGHIES, SAY FRENCH
Lifeboat service warns of more to come after record 230 asylum seekers cross Channel on one vessel
Nick Gutteridge Chief Political Correspondent. Max Stephens, Vivian Song, Charles Hymas.
Daily Telegraph, online 10 August 2026.

France's lifeboat service has warned there is "no limit" to the number of migrants people smugglers will put on a boat to Britain.

The French national sea rescue service (SNSM), equivalent to the RNLI, warned it was seeing "more and more" large boats ferrying hundreds of migrants across the Channel.

On Monday morning, a record 230 asylum seekers arrived in Britain after travelling on a single 15-metre-long (49ft) vessel from near Berck-sur-Mer, Normandy.

The vessel, which was intercepted by Border Force, HM Coastguard and the RNLI, surpassed the previous record of 165 migrants who reached the UK in a single boat in July.

Jean-Marc Lamblin, the director of the SNSM's Berck-sur-Mer branch, said: "Over the past three months, we've been seeing more and more 15-metre boats passing through."

He added that when the 150-migrants per boat figure was recently surpassed, "we didn't think there could be any more, but there really is no limit now".

Many of the "mega-dinghies" used for Channel crossings are manufactured in China, then shipped via commercial routes through countries such as Turkey and Bulgaria to European staging posts, chiefly Germany.

International smuggling networks store and distribute them at the staging posts before they reach the French beaches from where they are launched.

Home Office officials have previously identified Chinese websites as a key source of boats and parts and have been working with Beijing to clamp down on them.

A source at the National Crime Agency said China was "likely to be one of the countries but not the only country" from which smuggling gangs obtained their equipment.

It was not clear whether the mega-dinghy used in Monday's crossing came from China.

UK government sources said smuggling gangs were turning to such large vessels out of desperation to make the crossings financially viable.

Last week, people-smugglers packed 173 people on to a boat attempting to cross the Channel, but they were returned to France after its engine caught fire.

Joint operations between the British and French police on the ground have meant more planned launches are thwarted early, while cooperation with countries including Germany and China has helped restrict their supply of boats and engines.

French police are deploying new tactics to counter the growing use of mega-dinghies, including targeting and dispersing large gatherings of migrants near the coast, which are often a sign that a launch is imminent.

As a result, the gangs were finding it increasingly difficult to launch enough small boats to make ends meet, officials said, meaning they were having to turn to cramming large numbers of migrants on to single-vessel voyages instead.

A government source told The Telegraph: "Sustained pressure from law enforcement means the gangs are finding it harder to launch boats, and are therefore being forced to place more people onto them.

"While this boat is larger, the number of crossings is down significantly, and we just had the lowest figures for a July since 2020."

Officials said overall numbers of migrants arriving were down by 43 per cent compared with the previous year. This was despite the fact that August is one of the busiest periods of the year for "red days", when sea conditions are most suitable for crossing.

But they warned that the smugglers' use of larger boats had made both the crossings and the rescue operations at sea more perilous.

The SNSM said about 30 people had ended up in the sea during the rush to climb on the mega-dinghy at around 5pm on Sunday. Some became cut off by the tide and needed to be rescued.

French lifeboat workers noted that the large dinghy was first seen with about 50 migrants on board, then cruised close to a beach picking up more people. The crowded dinghy was described as "buckling under the swell" as it headed towards Britain.

Dr Mihnea Cuibus, senior researcher at the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, said: "There has been a longstanding trend of smugglers fitting increasingly more migrants onto larger and more crowded boats.

"It is likely that this is at least partly driven by increased enforcement in and around the French coast.

"Authorities have been trying to make it harder for smugglers to obtain boats, disrupting supply chains and confiscating equipment alongside European partners and thus creating incentives to fit as many people as possible into available boats."

The average number of migrants per small boat has increased from seven in 2018 to 63 in the year to March, and 70 so far this month.

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, said the record-breaking crossing proved the "illegal invasion is a national security emergency".

In a post on X, he said: "At 2.30am this morning, a boat carrying 230 people was taken into Dover. This is a record number in a single vessel. It's yet more proof that this illegal invasion is a national security emergency."

'It's a disgrace'
Chris Philp, the shadow home secretary, said the French authorities should have stopped the dinghy. He said: "This is now beyond a joke. The French authorities could easily have stopped a vessel this size from embarking in shallow waters.

"I recently saw for myself French gendarmes standing by and doing nothing while illegal immigrants boarded in knee-deep water. Shabana Mahmood is handing over Β£660m of our money while this happens. It's a disgrace."

A spokesman for Europol, the EU's law enforcement agency, said: "The European Centre Against Migrant Smuggling is aware of this development.

"We are in constant exchange with the appropriate authorities in both France and the United Kingdom on this phenomenon and also have a dedicated operational taskforce running that concentrates on smuggling of migrants with boats (no matter if relatively small boats or, as of recently, larger boats) across the Channel."

A Home Office spokesman said: "This latest incident demonstrates the reckless and dangerous tactics employed by the criminal gangs facilitating these crossings, who continue to put lives at risk by cramming ever greater numbers of people onto unseaworthy vessels.

"We are making progress, with the number of small boat crossings down this year and the lowest number recorded for the month of July since 2020.

"But we must go further, which is why we have signed a payment-by-results deal with the French to put 40 per cent more boots on the ground on French beaches."

DURHAM CATHEDRAL, "BEST ON PLANET EARTH"
On this day, 11 August in 1093, Bishop William of St. Calais and Prior Turgot of Durham laid the foundation stone of Durham Cathedral.

It was the successor to the Lindisfarne Priory, established c. 635 which had been abandoned in 875 after Viking raids.

It was built to house the bodies of St Cuthbert and the Venerable Bede, where you can visit their shrines today.

It has become one of the greatest Cathedrals in the world. Indeed, American author, Bill Bryson called it the "best cathedral on planet Earth."

After the Battle of Dunbar on 3 September 1650, Scottish Royalists were imprisoned there by the forces of Oliver Cromwell's Parliamentarians.

The large building on the riverside, directly below the Cathedral, is the Old Fulling Mill. It was converted into an archaeology museum for Durham University, and it closed to the public in 2013.

"STOP MASS IMMIGRATION 🫷- ASYLUM FRAUDS OUT πŸ‘‰" DEMO
Two years ago in 2024, on this date 10 August, A Force For Good met the "Stand Up...For Mass Immigration and Fraudulent Asylum" group in George Square, Glasgow.

It's fair to say we gate-crashed their anti-Scotland event and got all the media attention.

We really cheered up their dismal event, and we brought the optics!

At one point, there were more of them jeering at us, than there were listening to their boring, anti-Scottish speeches on the other side of the Square!

The video of Alistair McConnachie, on the mic is here (and it quickly got over 70,000 views): https://youtube.com/watch?v=7yoBX_-c4TM

Our Message was:
1. Stop Mass Immigration.
2. Stop the Boats and Send them Back.
3. No Resettlement in Scotland.
4. First Minister John Swinney to meet with a delegation from A Force For Good to discuss our concerns. (He never did meet us, unfortunately :-)
5. Politicians to recognise the normal and necessary concerns of millions and not attack them with smears.

The transcript of the Speech is on our Website at
https://www.aforceforgood.uk/single-post/immig-speech

A year later we would publish our ground-breaking work "Protect our Country: Policies to Stop Mass Immigration" available in print and eBook here

FOUR WORDS that MAKE it IMPOSSIBLE to STOP THE BOATS
Every politician, lawyer, journalist and NGO uses the same four words to describe Channel crossings: vulnerable people fleeing persecution.

Alistair McConnachie argues this is a false frame, legalised by Britain's membership of the UN Refugee Convention, which obliges us to treat every asylum claim as potentially genuine.

His case: reject the frame, leave the Convention, and the traffic ends β€” because none of the practical steps are available while the framing holds.

0:00 The one mental change
0:11 Stop believing the four words
0:22 The line everyone repeats
0:46 Who uses it, and why
0:55 A false frame
1:02 Legalised by the UN Refugee Convention
1:26 Even if they all were β€” then what?
1:42 We cannot embrace all the misery of the world
1:54 Reject the frame entirely
2:18 Leaving the Convention
2:32 What happens to the traffic
2:46 One small change in the brain
3:00 Trapped by a sentimental frame
