"It's the best thing I ever did." πŸ’™

For Nexus Fostering foster carer Chris, fostering has been one of the most rewarding decisions of her life.

In this video, Chris shares why she would recommend fostering to anyone who's considering it.

"It brings so much joy and happiness to me. Watching the children go off into a better lifeβ€”what more could you want?"

Her words are a powerful reminder of the lasting difference foster carers make. Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, supported and hopeful about their future, and foster carers help make that possible.

If you've been thinking about fostering, why not take the first step? We'd love to answer your questions and help you discover whether fostering could be right for you.

πŸ’‘ Did you know?

You can be single and become a foster carer.

You don't need to be married or in a relationship to make a difference in a child's life. Many single people provide loving, stable and supportive homes for children and young people in foster care.

What matters most isn't your relationship status, it's your ability to offer a safe, nurturing environment where a child can feel valued, supported and encouraged to thrive.

If you've ever thought about fostering but weren't sure if you were eligible, we'd love to hear from you. Our friendly team is here to answer your questions and guide you through the process.

Education can open doors, build confidence and create opportunities for the future. That's why our dedicated Education Team is here to support both our foster carers and the children and young people in their care.πŸ“š

From providing training to help foster carers prepare for PEP (Personal Education Plan) meetings, to working alongside schools and supporting young people with writing CVs, applying for apprenticeships, university and employment, the team is there every step of the way.

At Nexus Fostering, we know that every child's educational journey is unique. By working together, we help children and young people overcome challenges, celebrate achievements and reach their full potential.

What is therapeutic fostering? πŸ’™

Therapeutic fostering is a way of caring for children and young people who may have experienced trauma, loss, or difficult experiences early in life.

It’s about understanding that a child’s behaviour is often a way of communicating their feelings and experiences. Therapeutic foster carers are supported to look beyond the behaviour, build trust, create a sense of safety, and help children develop confidence and emotional resilience.

With specialist training, guidance and support, therapeutic foster carers provide a nurturing environment where children can begin to heal, grow and feel understood.

At Nexus Fostering, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive with the right support around them.

πŸ“± The Government has announced plans to ban social media for under-16s.

The proposed measures aim to strengthen online safety, reduce children's exposure to harmful content, and encourage more time spent learning, playing and connecting offline. The changes are expected to come into force in Spring 2027.

For foster carers, supporting children and young people to navigate the digital world has always been an important part of everyday life. Whether it's setting healthy boundaries, having open conversations about online safety, or helping children build positive digital habits, trusted adults play a vital role.

Whatever your views on the proposed ban, one thing is clear: children benefit from caring adults who listen, guide and support them as they grow up in an increasingly digital world. ❀️
