As children head off to university or college, many parents find themselves entering a new chapter of life as "empty nesters."

While it can be a time of mixed emotions, it can also be an opportunity to make a lasting difference in a young person's life.

If you have a spare bedroom, time to share, and a desire to help children thrive, fostering could be the next rewarding step for you.

Join us TONIGHT at our Information Session to discover what fostering involves, the support available, and how you could change a child's future.

A new 2-day course has been uploaded to CPD and is aimed at Foster Carers, Special Guardians and Adopters who support children living with them who are presenting behaviours that may be perceived to be difficult, disruptive and at times dangerous [the umbrella term ‘challenging behaviour’ is often used].

👉Day 1: Will provide carers with the knowledge and skills they need to prevent or reduce the likelihood of situations developing, focussing on de-escalation strategies and interpersonal skills to keep themselves and others safe.

👉Day 2: Will be delivered face to face and go on to examine how to respond safely, effectively and lawfully to those situations, which despite carer’s best endeavours, escalate. It will include some physical skills that may be used as a last resort and act within organisational policy and the legal framework at all times.

For more information about the course and to enroll, sign into your CPD online account and go to the Safety, Health & Wellbeing (SHAW) tile.

Today is National Photography Day! 📸

A good chance to remind our fostering families that we're running a photography competition at the moment titled 'The Wonders of Nature' which invites those between 4-18 years old to submit photos that 'capture the magic, mystery and beauty of the natural world'. 🐛 🍃

Good luck to everyone receiving their A-level results today. 🍀

Whether you're opening the envelope with excitement, nerves, pride, disappointment, or a mix of everything, remember that your results are just one moment in your story.

They may open some doors, but they do not define your worth, your potential, or what you can achieve in the future.

Today, we're celebrating the resilience, determination and achievements of all young people across Suffolk, including those in care who are taking their next steps towards adulthood.

Whatever your results, be proud of how far you've come. ❤️

👉🏻 Different backgrounds. Different experiences. Common aspirations.

This International Youth Day, we're celebrating the young people in care across Suffolk who are building their futures, pursuing their goals and showing incredible resilience every day.

Every teenager deserves someone in their corner as they navigate the journey to adulthood.

Right now, we need more foster carers for teenagers in Suffolk. If you could offer stability, encouragement and a place to belong, you could make a life-changing difference.

There’s a big age gap between fostering friends Stacey and Sharon. They’re completely different people, with completely different skills and life experience.

They came to fostering through entirely different routes. Single mum Sharon has worked in childcare throughout her career, and fostering was a natural progression once her daughters were in high school. Stacey and her partner started fostering when their daughter was a toddler because fostering suited them better than Stacey returning to work after maternity leave.

If you’re thinking about fostering, they’re keen to reassure people that if they can foster, anyone can. 💛
