On Sunday, The Kettering Civic Society awarded their 2026 Annual Silver Rose Bowl to Kettering & District Art Society and The Friends of the Alfred East Art Gallery and Museum, for their collaborative achievement in establishing ARTworks, a volunteer led exhibition venue, and workshop space in the Newlands Shopping Centre.

A special presentation was also made to Barbara Lewis, who was honoured for her dedication and central role in the success of ARTworks.

Sunday was a final celebratary event for artists and volunteers to come together ahead of the ARTworks’ closure at the end of the month.

I love art and paintings in particular, and I was fortunate enough to bump into the artist who had painted my favourite pieces in the gallery- it was great to hear more about what inspired them, and his second life as an artist.

A huge thank you to everyone involved- you are all awesome!

ARTWorks has been an amazing asset to our Town and I am sure it will be back in one form or another.

On Saturday, I went along to the 60th Anniversary Celebratory Concert of The Rothwell Ladies Thursday Club, with my fellow Town Councillor Pam Furness.

The group was started up 60 years ago last week by 3 Mums who wanted to have some time out, and has grown into a Rothwell institution!

It was a wonderful evening full of celebration and beautiful singing, all the solos made me cry, it’s was a real treat.

A huge thank you to Barbara and the Team for all your work raising funds for Cransley Hospice Trust and for making us feel so welcome!

On Saturday, I went along to the Teddy Bear abseil at The Parish Church with 2 of my daughters.

We had a great time!🧸

I spoke to the cuddley toys whilst we were waiting in the queue and most were feeling very confident and brave. A couple felt a sense of trepidation, but were sure they could overcome this 🤗There was a great sense of community and happiness in the queue, it was brilliant!

Little miss sunshine and Little Ted had a great adventure- the other toys are all extremely jealous and I think it may be a ballot for who gets to join in next year.

The world is often a far too serious place, so a huge thank you to the volunteers that made this event happen - you are awesome!⭐️

This morning, I went along to The Laying up the Standard Finedon Branch with The Royal Anglian Regiment, Regimental Association.

It was a wonderful service at St. Mary the Virgin Church in Finedon celebrating members of the Armed Forces. Followed by a gathering at the War Memorial to commemorate a new bench in honour of those who lost their lives for our freedom.

Thank you to everyone who made this event happen.

We will remember them.

Another small business opened at The Yards yesterday! A huge welcome to Bubble Boo AKA Candy Boo!

It was great to chat to Sarah, Ricky and 9 year old Ella about their new adventure. They are full of infectious enthusiasm and it was great to hear all their ideas!

Thank you for inviting me along to celebrate with you! I wish you all the success in the future!
