This week, refurbishment works at Testerton Walk continued with the er****on of scaffolding and with the installation of the new communal fire alarm system. Contractors also began constructing protective “tin lids” over the atriums to enable refurbishment works to progress safely; and we are continuing to visit residents of Testerton Walk to prepare for refurbishment works inside their homes.

Amber Construction are working closely with residents to carry out surveys with each of the homes in the block, these are important so we can support you and your households as much as possible. Residents of Testerton Walk who have not yet been contacted about a home visit, should get in touch with us to book an appointment as soon as possible.

If you have any questions about the refurbishment of Testerton Walk, please contact Lancaster West Office.

🌿🏆 Five years in a row! 🏆🌿

We’re proud to share that Lancaster West has been awarded the Green Flag Award for the fifth consecutive year – an international recognition of excellence in green space management.

The judges praised the way residents have come together to create greener, safer and more welcoming spaces, with opportunities for people of all backgrounds to get involved and help shape a sustainable future.

This achievement belongs to our incredible residents, volunteers and partners whose hard work and dedication keep our green spaces thriving.

Thank you to everyone who has planted, grown, maintained and championed Lancaster West’s gardens and green spaces 🌱

🎉 Congratulations to Jose!

LancWest Works is proud to have supported local resident Jose on his journey into the construction industry. This week, he started with Amber Construction to complete his Level 3 Electrical Installation Portfolio.

After making a fantastic first impression, Jose has already been offered a paid placement while he completes his qualification, with the potential for a permanent role at the end of the placement if all goes well.

Jose has impressed the team with his positive attitude, commitment and strong work ethic, and we couldn’t be happier to see him taking this exciting next step in his career.

👏 Well done, Jose!

👷‍♀️🗯️Thanks to residents who joined us for the Walkways Refurbishment Support and Respite event, held earlier in July at the North Kensington Resource Centre.

Residents joined us to meet the Refurbishment Team, contractor Amber Construction Limited and the Resident Liaison Officers to find out more about the upcoming refurbishment works, what support is currently available throughout the delivery programme. We listened to residents, received valuable feedback, discussed concerns and heard from residents about further support we could consider building into our Respite offers.

A highlight of the evening was Arup’s interactive sound engagement, where residents experienced first-hand the difference triple-glazed windows will make reducing noise in the home. 🔇✨

Resident Community Chefs provided hot food, and there was plenty of opportunities to ask questions and connect with neighbours,

Thank you to everyone who came along. We look forward to continuing to work with residents as we deliver these important improvements together.

In June, we were delighted to welcome Marwa as the first participant in our new “Director for a Day” initiative, a new addition to our award-winning LancWest Works programme.

The new opportunity gives young people from Lancaster West and Notting Dale the opportunity to shadow James Caspell, LWNT’s Neighbourhood Director, gaining a unique insight into leadership, decision-making and the work taking place to deliver a range of services to the local community.

Throughout the day, Marwa participated in meetings about the refurbishment programme and Notting Dale Heat Network, took part in a site visit with residents, and spent time discussing career pathways and future ambitions. It offered a behind-the-scenes look at how decisions are made and how local services are delivered.

James Caspell said:

“We’re delighted to share this new opportunity to our younger residents at the start of their careers. Marwa brought a fresh perspective to a number of discussions, and I’m sure has a successful future ahead of her”

Marwa said:

“Thank you for having me. It was definitely my favourite work experience I’ve completed so far.”

Khadra Ibrahim, Careers Lead at Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team added:

“We want to ensure each young person’s unique journey is supported, helping them build confidence, develop skills and take meaningful first steps into the world of work.”
