A Section 35 dispersal will be in place in Bromley Town Centre on Friday 27/03/2026 between the hours of 1200-2200hrs, authorised by Inspector McLaughlin.

• Avoid gathering in large groups
• Dispersal powers will be used where appropriate. Failure to comply with a dispersal order may result in arrest. Please be aware that police sanctions could negatively affect future career opportunities
• Police will be working closely with schools to identify anyone involved in adverse behaviour. This may result in additional school-based sanctions
• Even if you do not intend to cause anti-social behaviour, simply being present in an area where others are acting disorderly may lead to you being perceived as involved
• Parents/guardians: please take a moment to speak with your child about where they are going after school and offer guidance based on the points above

Every summer, students aged 15 to 17 are tasked by their teachers to find a company that would allow them to work in their company to give them valuable experience of working

Like many other companies, we at the Metropolitan Police receive numerous enquiries regarding work experience. However, due to the nature of the organization, it is difficult – no impossible to do a proper meaningful work experience without the possibility of exposing to sensitive information or data.

Thus, the Work Insight Week was born!

The Work Insight Week is designed to provide Year 12 students with a comprehensive overview of the diverse roles within the Metropolitan Police Service. The programme aimed to challenge common perceptions of policing, highlight the variety of career paths available, and give the students a practical understanding of the skills and dedication required to serve the community.

This report details the activities and learning outcomes from the recent week-long event.

The week was carefully structured to offer a balance between classroom based learning and interactive workshops and onsite visits.

Monday: Introductions, Q&A session regarding the organizational structure of the police and Tour or Bromley Police Station

Tuesday – Tour of Wapping Police Station and Marine Museum. The Thames River Police merged with the Metropolitan Police in 1839 making it the oldest Police Station in the world.

Wednesday – Visit to Gravesend Public Order and Riot Control. Officers from the Public Order Unit explained the training and equipment used to manage large-scale events and protests. Students were allowed to try on some of the protective gear, providing a physical understanding of the demands of the role.

Thursday – AM / Forensics: A Forensic Scientist led a hands-on workshop. Students were shown how to collect fingerprint evidence, and how to gain evidence from blood splatters, using simulated crime scenes. This session demystified the science behind forensics and highlighted the importance of attention to detail.

Thursday - PM / Murder Team Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Showcase. A detective sergeant shared case studies, explaining the process of a major investigation from the initial report to court. They highlighted the collaborative nature of detective work and the psychological aspects of interviewing suspects and witnesses.

Friday – AM / The control room experience – the students were given a tour of the central command and control room. They were told how operators prioritize and dispatch resources. This gave them a new appreciation for the high-pressured environment and the critical role of call handlers.

Friday – PM / Fi****ms: The students had a brief tour of the Armory at Lambeth where they were able to have a hands-on experience with some fi****ms used by the AFO’s (Authorized Fi****ms Officers).

The feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive with some actively looking to join the Police.

The Year 12 Work Insight Week was a highly successful and impactful programme .It provided a unique and valuable experience for all involved broadening horizons and generating a genuine appreciation for the complex and vital work of the police force.

In the final weeks of the school summer term, Bromley Community Liaison Officers organized the Junior Citizens Scheme at Beckenham Fire Station and Bromley Football Club respectively.

These were the second and third weeks of talks for Bromley pupils which are intended to help primary school pupils with their transition to what will invariably be a bigger school environment.

At this stage in their lives, young people often have more responsibilities heaped on to their shoulders which gives them a lot more things to contend with in their everyday lives.

Examples of what pupils learned are: how to put injured people into the recovery position, how to travel safely on the railway, what to do in case of a fire in the home, how to be safe online, self-hygiene, how to treat cuts and bruises and even how to deal with relationships.

Over a period of 3 weeks, approximately 1500 Bromley year 6 pupils were seen at Bromley Football Club and Orpington and Beckenham Fire Stations.

The Bromley Police Community Liaison Team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you again to the London Ambulance Service, Transport for London, The British Red Cross, School Nurses, Bromley Council, Bromley Y, and London Fire Brigade teams for their outstanding presentations to the youth of Bromley.

Your dedication to educating our children and showcasing the invaluable work of emergency services is truly commendable.

Your efforts have made a significant impact, and we have received wonderful feedback from both students and schools. It’s encouraging to see such enthusiasm, and many are eager to participate again next year.

Thank you once again for your commitment to bridging the gap and inspiring the next generation.

On the 16/07/2025 Frankie Schock was arrested due to being recalled to prison.

On the 25th May 2025 a man was attacked by 4 males with weapons in Merlin Grove, Beckenham as they tried to steal his bike.

A man walking his dog assisted the victim and disrupted the offence, officers wish to speak to this man who is a witness to the offence being investigated.

Officers would be grateful if this man could make contact with DS David Paine quoting 01/7535544/25 via 101 or via the MPS website.

Today marks 20 years since the 7/7 London bombings.

We remember the 52 lives lost that day, the 770 injured, and the families of all affected.

Thank you to the first responders who showed extraordinary courage and tireless commitment to the safety of Londoners – both in the immediate aftermath and to this day, ensuring this terrible tragedy never happens again.

An attempted robbery offence took place on the 2nd June 2025 at Plymouth Road in Bromley where suspects attempted to steal the victims motorbike, when the victim tried to stop them, they assaulted them.

On the 10th and 17th June, two further offences were identified to be linked to the previous offence on the 2nd June.

A search warrant was executed on the 2nd July and a stolen moped was found. Evidence linking a suspect to all 3 offences was found along with a stun gun.

A 17 year old male was charged with Attempted Robbery, Theft of Motor Vehicle x 2, Drive whilst disqualified x 2, Drive with no Insurance x 2 and Possession of Prohibited Weapon, and remanded in custody on the 3rd July.
