August is packed with brilliant events at WWT London! 💙

Dragonfly Festival continues throughout the month, with our popular Wednesday workshops, including Dragonfly Robotics, before finishing with the spectacular Upstream Puppet Shows.

You can also join us for our much-loved bat walks, the final Wine Walk of the year, and our £5 Wetland Wellbeing workshop, where you'll create your own wet felted wool bookmark.

Have you ever spotted a wasp spider? 🕷️

This stunning female wasp spider was recently photographed here on the reserve. Named for their striking yellow, black and white markings, these spiders mimic wasps to help deter predators.

The distinctive zigzag pattern woven into the web is called a stabilimentum. Despite years of research, nobody knows exactly why wasp spiders create these fascinating silk structures.

Keep an eye out on your next visit, as late summer is one of the best times to spot these incredible spiders hiding among the long grasses.

Sometimes the smallest sightings make the biggest difference🦔

This little hedgehog was recently spotted here on the reserve, reminding us just how important wetlands are for wildlife.

With hedgehogs now classed as vulnerable to extinction in Britain, every safe habitat matters. Moments like this show why protecting nature is so important, not just for hedgehogs, but for the countless other species that call our wetlands home🩵

Creating, connecting and slowing down.🎨🌿

At our recent Wetland Wellbeing Workshop, visitors discovered the art of natural ink making using everyday natural ingredients. From experimenting with vibrant colours to creating beautiful nature-inspired artwork, it was a wonderful morning of creativity and connection with the wetlands.

On World Nature Conservation Day, it's a lovely reminder that spending time in nature is one of the best ways to appreciate and protect it.💚
