To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Scriptoria, we’re reflecting on some highlights from our Strategic Communications work, looking back over the past 10 years since the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals.
This time we’re going a little further back into the archives to 2018, where our Senior Writer and Editor provided expert editorial support to the OECD’s ‘Development Co-operation Report 2018: Joining Forces to Leave No One Behind’.
🔸Goal 10: Reduced Inequality 🔸
Project: Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)

In 2015, the UN adopted the 2030 Agenda, committing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals while leaving no one behind. The OECD’s flagship Development Co-operation Report for 2018 shows the learning process of putting this commitment into practice. It highlights how rising inequality, climate change and fragility threaten development gains, and calls for more inclusive policies, better data and stronger partnerships to reach those most at risk of being excluded. The report argues that development co-operation must evolve through a renewed narrative, smarter use of official development assistance, and more co-ordinated action to ensure sustainable development benefits everyone.
Scriptoria’s Strategic Communications Team collaborated closely with OECD and the many authors worldwide to edit and refine the report, ensuring the content was clear, consistent and accessible while upholding the standards of the OECD brand.
Much has changed since 2018, including – it’s important to remember – change for the better. Revisiting the report, our editor was reminded that at the time around 1 billion people lacked access to electricity. Today, this number has reduced to 655 million people who are still living without access to electricity. Human development has been happening on a massive scale at the base of the economic pyramid – yet far more targeted action is needed to ensure no one is left behind, as we try to keep the collective promise of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for all.
