Come along to our weekly IT Help Sessions in the Comfortable Zone at Kensington Central Library 📚💻.
We can support you with using the internet, apps, emails, video calls, printing, online shopping, social media and much more 🌐.

You can simply drop-in on Mondays in August, from 3-5pm, or 2-4pm from September onwards.

The comfortable zone offers:
• Desks and cosy chairs
• Devices to use during your session (when available)
• A wheelchair accessible space
• Accessible hardware: magnification tools, large print keyboards, and a machine that reads documents aloud

🎨 From Oar to Easel: The Lost Genius of Chelsea’s Walter Greaves

📍 At Chelsea Gallery, Chelsea Library, Chelsea Old Town Hall, King's Rd, London SW3 5EZ

From Oar to Easel celebrates the rich but under recognised heritage of Walter Greaves (1846-1930), a Chelsea waterman’s son, whose paintings, etchings and drawings form one of the most vivid visual records of the Thames foreshore before the construction of the Chelsea Embankment. A riverside world of boatyards, wherries, mudbanks, watermen’s races, Cremorne Gardens and the working river that shaped everyday life in Chelsea.

The exhibition brings together original artworks alongside fascinating items from the Royal Borough's Archive collection, made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

We’re so very excited to share that Ramis Ali will bring his energy and music to our event at Kensington Central Library on 18 July!

Originally from Karachi, now Manchester-based — Ramis writes songs the way cities remember themselves. In Urdu, in English, in the gap between the two. Ten original releases in 2025. Recent tours with Abdul Hannan, Annural Khalid and AUR. The kind of voice that finds emotion in a place where stories and poems are felt

Fittingly - Ramis will be performing live at Hikayat-e-Aamm — our sixth year culture fest, two anthology launches, a publishing imprint debut, poetry, conversations, art, food, and more.

His music will meet us at a place where our stories come alive and our art forms mingle, and languages speak to each other - embracing beauty and truth.

Rawanee, now global majority, was built on refusing to shrink where we come from — the Pakistani diaspora literary tradition, the Urdu and South Asian inheritance, the qalm tradition of storytelling and translation passed down before us.

On 18 July, that root takes centre stage.

Hikayat-e-Aamm opens with Bunyaad — where every voice in the room came from, spoken without apology.

Six years of community, creativity and flow —

and on 18 July, the karavan arrives at Kensington Central Library.

Hikayat-e-Aamm is a full-day culture festival unfolding across four acts: poetry, conversation, music and art. Primary language: English

We are launching two global majority anthologies —

Chashma-e-Rawaan, our founding poets collection;

Where Latitudes Meet, a global open call anthology in English, Urdu, Arabic and Turkish.

Surrounding the programme:

Art curated by Samar F. Zia, zines, henna, food, books on sale, and people finding each other.

Come to the North Kensington Library Film Club!🍿

This month, we are marking Refugee Week with a screening of a touching documentary about three generations of Palestinian refugees in southern Lebanon. This intimate and humorous portrait of a stateless community borrows its title from a novel by the author and activist Ghassan Kanafani (whose books can be found in our libraries collections). It is an illuminating example of preservation of collective memories.

We will have tea, coffee and popcorn available. The film is about 93 minutes long and there will be time for a chat, afterwards.
