🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️There's just over a month to go before the Lloyds Tour of Britain Stage 2 arrives in East Lindsey with a thrilling finish on Skegness seafront (Thursday, September 3). 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️

We are really looking forward to seeing the riders and the spectacle of international sport - right here on our doorsteps - with businesses and the local community preparing a warm welcome.

Competitors will embark upon a 180.2km route which heads out from Boston's Market Place before venturing through large parts of East Lindsey, finishing a few hours later in Skegness.

🎉 A week of celebration starts here!

The excitement begins before the big day, with a week of fringe activities taking place from 1–7 August.

Then join us on Saturday 8 August for the main event, celebrating Horncastle's rich equine heritage with entertainment, creativity and fun for all ages.

From live entertainment and creative workshops to heritage activities and family fun, it's a fantastic opportunity to support local businesses, community groups and volunteers while enjoying a great day out.

🎬 Rubbish Rumour #2: The Pest Magnet

As food waste caddies continue to be delivered across East Lindsey, we're starting to hear some of the questions and myths that often come up when a new recycling service is introduced.

Over the next few days, we'll be sharing our Rubbish Rumours series to separate fact from fiction and help you get ready for your new weekly food waste collection.

Next up: "The Pest Magnet."

Some people worry that food waste caddies will attract pests or vermin. The good news is they're designed to help prevent exactly that.

Your outdoor food waste caddy has a secure, lockable lid to keep the contents safely contained, and because food waste is collected every week, it won't be left sitting around for long.

Simply keep the lid closed after adding your food waste and your caddy will be ready for collection on your normal collection day.

This is the second of four short videos we're sharing, each tackling a different food waste myth and helping you feel confident about using your new service.

💙🏖️ Celebrating 25 years of RNLI Lifeguards 🏖️💙

Since 2001, lifeguards have been helping to keep people safe on beaches across the UK and Channel Islands, growing from a trial service on the south coast to patrolling more than 245 beaches today.

Their lifesaving work goes far beyond rescues. RNLI lifeguards spend months training, developing vital skills in casualty care, fitness, water safety and emergency response. They use specialist equipment, from rescue boards and all-terrain vehicles to first aid kits, and work tirelessly to identify hazards, share safety advice and prevent incidents before they happen.

Over the past 25 years, RNLI lifeguards have carried out more than 48 million preventative actions, helped more than 440,000 people, and saved over 2,000 lives. Their dedication, expertise and commitment help make our beaches safer for everyone. 🌊

In their 25th anniversary year, we are proud to supporRNLI RNLI lifeguards and celebrate their incredible contribution to saving lives at the coast.

We know that there’s a lot of local interest in tomorrow's extraordinary Planning meeting (Thursday 30 July), and wanted to share some useful information for those looking to follow it at home or elsewhere.

✅ The meeting, which starts at 10.30am, will be streamed live on the Council's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com//streams

✅ Anyone is welcome to attend the meeting in person at ELDC’s Horncastle offices, subject to the limited seating in the Council Chamber, which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

✅ As with all planning committee meetings, only those who have registered in advance will be invited to speak as part of the agenda, for up to three minutes.

First up: "Whiffy Waste."

One of the biggest concerns we hear is that food waste caddies will smell. The good news is they don't have to.

Because your food waste will be collected every week, it won't be left sitting around for long. Using your caddy for everyday food waste such as tea bags, coffee grounds, fruit and vegetable peelings, eggshells and leftovers is a simple way to recycle more from home.

This is the first of four short videos we'll be sharing, each tackling a different food waste myth and helping you feel confident about using your new service.
