Not submitting a Provider Information Return (PIR) isn't just a missed form. The PIR sits under Regulation 17, Good Governance, and it feeds directly into the evidence inspectors use when assessing your service. Missing the deadline can raise red flags. Poor responses can trigger deeper scrutiny. Generic answers can undermine real good practice.

So it's worth getting right.

Tilly was built by people who know what inspectors look for: 170+ years of hands-on care experience, trained on CQC frameworks, with your data kept in your own encrypted environment and never used to train AI. You talk about your service, Tilly writes the draft, and you review every word before anything is submitted.

Group rates are available for providers with more than one location.

Twelve months of good care. Don't let it come down to one week of recall.

The best Provider Information Returns (PIRs) are built across the year: improvements as they happen, feedback from families and staff, examples of good practice. Then when the PIR arrives, you're not staring at a blank page.

Tilly's year-round prompts help you capture the evidence as it happens, then write the draft from a conversation about your service.

Tuesday Tips: three useful resources for busy care providers, found this week so you do not have to. 💜

1. Claim back training costs. The Learning and Development Support Scheme lets care employers in England claim towards training for non-regulated staff, including registered managers. Current maximums include £1,540 for the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate and £1,565 for the Level 5 Diploma. Claims have a three-month window and the pot is limited, so check the list before you book.

2. A free webinar on hospital discharge. Skills for Care and The Outstanding Society, Wednesday 25 November, 11am to 12 noon, on MS Teams. For registered managers, deputies and operational leads, and recorded for everyone who registers.

3. A free cyber security to-do list. The National Cyber Security Centre's Cyber Action Toolkit gives small organisations personalised, step-by-step actions against email hacking, phishing and ransomware, with progress tracking as you go.

Bigger? Steadier? Ready to hand on one day? Whatever you want for your care company, it will not happen by accident. 🌱

Not where the next contract happens to take you. Where you actually want it to be. Maybe that is bigger, in new areas or new services. Maybe it is steadier, with less riding on one council contract. Maybe it is ready to hand on to someone else one day.

Most owners we meet know the answer. What they do not have is the time, or a plan, to get there. The day job gets in the way.

That is what our Growth Partnership is for. Over 12 months we work alongside you to build the plan, then help do the heavy lifting to deliver it. Practical help from people who know social care, not a strategy document that sits in a drawer.

"Their bid management process is thorough, their communication is brilliant, and their writing is top-tier."

"It felt like a true partnership from start to finish."

"I thought the process was going to be daunting but it was not."

Some ideas are worth bringing back every autumn.

This time last year we shared our favourite Halloween activities for care services, and it went down well. With the pumpkins back in the shops, here it is again for anyone who missed it or wants a reminder.

Halloween doesn't have to mean plastic spiders and sugar. It can be a bowl of warming pumpkin soup shared around the table, a painted pumpkin on the windowsill and an afternoon that brings residents, families and staff together.

Inside the blog:

A warming pumpkin soup recipe to cook and share, with ginger and turmeric for a seasonal boost.

Four pumpkin crafts that work well for people living with dementia: painting pumpkin seeds, turning hollowed pumpkins into tea-light holders or planters, painting rather than carving, and making bird feeders.

Why it matters: moments like these are person-centred care in action, and the kind of everyday evidence of wellbeing that CQC wants to see.

There is also a free "Pumpkin Fun for Body and Mind" recipe and craft poster to download and pin up in your service.

Read the blog and download the poster: https://insequa.co.uk/halloween-activities-in-social-care/

If you tried any of these last year, we would love to see the photos in the comments.

It's not that you don't care. It's that you're already doing ten jobs at once. Staffing gaps, safeguarding alerts, residents, families, audits, the rota. And somewhere in between, a 6,500-word regulatory return.

The problem isn't knowledge. It's time.

Tilly turns a conversation about your service into a draft Provider Information Return (PIR), ready for you to review. Writing a PIR can take 2 to 3 full days, often out of hours. With Tilly, a couple of hours.
