After yesterday's Chadderton Clean up Event, our main organiser, 10 year old Thomas Stewart had some words to say about why he takes part the community work he does.

We should all look for inspiration in young people like Thomas and all try and do a little more to help clear our streets and parks, which raises awareness throughout Chadderton.

Yesterday's South Chadderton clean up event was a success! Spearheaded by 10 year old Thomas Stewart, who was presented with an outstanding achievement award by the Keep Britain Tidy members, we managed to remove rubbish, weeds, clear pathways and pavements as well as known fly tipping spots.

I would urge more residents to come and get involved with the events in the near future. We want to create that community feeling back again and restore some pride back into Sotuh Chadderton.

The goal, to stop fly tipping, rubbish being thrown needlessly and bring awareness to the areas where investment and maintenance are very much required now.

Thomas had a message for local residents on a video on another post, we should all be doing more to protect our environment and look after our local area.

On June 6, 1944, a generation of unimaginable courage stepped onto the beaches of Normandy, changing the course of history forever. The heroes of the D-Day landings—many just teenagers—faced a wall of fire, chaos, and terror, yet they pushed forward with profound bravery to reclaim freedom for a fractured world. To the soldiers who stormed the shores, the sailors who navigated the treacherous waters, the aviators who cleared the skies, and the resistance fighters who worked in the shadows: we owe you a debt that can never truly be repaid. Thank you for your sacrifice, your resilience, and your unwavering resolve. Your legacy of valor will never be forgotten.

Residents have informed me that bus services are temporarily unavailable on Turf Lane and Coalshaw Green Road. These seem to be diverted bus routes in place until July.

There are several major electrical contractors working in the area on local roads with road closures and the trams have been impacted as well.

Check your routes before you travel.

If I have anymore updates they will be posted here.

Our South Chadderton Community clean up is tomorrow, 11am meeting at Coalshaw Green Park and Tram stop carpark. We hope to clean areas from rubbish and weeds including cut-throughs walkways and pavements.

Anyone is happy to come and help, we have a fair few pickers, gloves and high visibility jackets to give out.

See you tomorrow!!!!

No Green Bin pickup today for South Chadderton, this is down to an operational issue and they will be being emptied tomorrow so please all residents leave them out.

I will be asking the council why this happened last week and they were not picked up at all. It is unacceptable 2 weeks on the bounce.

We are organising a Community "South Chadderton Clean Up" day this Saturday the 6th June. We will start around 11am from Colashaw Green Park Car Park down near the tram stop. We will have gloves, high visibility vests, bags etc and would like to invite anyone to come down and support the cause. This is about helping our community and coming together to show pride in the area.

All are welcome, this is being organised by young Thomas Stewart who originally started the "Dont Trash Oldham" over 5 years ago. His family and others are supporting bringing this back and I am fully behind it.

We want to do these event more often and, with areas not being maintained, we are showing Oldham Council what essential services the area is currently missing.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

2 seperate sinkholes reported this week on Lydia Becker Way and Hardman Street. It seems the hot weather has made our pathments a bit more dangerous for now.

We will get these fixed ASAP but please let the page know where any others appear so we can report and follow up the repairs.

Also be vigilant this time of year we have had several reports around the South Chadderton area of potential burglars in the early hours of the morning in gardens.
