£2.50 buys today's driver a well-earned cup of tea.

£5.00 adds another shovel of coal to keep the trains steaming.

£25.00 helps fuel the generators that power the railway throughout the day.

£47.50 replaces a two-metre section of worn wooden sleepers with durable recycled plastic sleepers.

£888.00 purchases a brand-new passenger trolley, allowing us to carry more passengers for years to come.

Our annual insurance alone now costs over £3,000, and like many other expenses, it continues to increase each year. Along with fuel, maintenance, tools, replacement parts and ongoing improvements, these are all essential costs involved in keeping the railway safe, reliable and operating for everyone to enjoy.

Every pound donated helps preserve Polegate Miniature Railway for future generations, ensuring it remains a place where families, friends and railway enthusiasts can continue making memories together.

Bank holiday Monday 25th May, extra public running day, join us bring a picnic and enjoyed it in the park and some train rides in the afternoon.
In this heat we all need to let off some steam, and what better than a ride at a local attraction in Polegate.
We aim to start from noon, following some site work in the morning that our members are doing.

The railway children are ready to run, look out for us in Eastbourne Carnival.

Remember to meet us at Polegate Oaks, we have a few works to do at our site on Bank Holiday Monday, but members attending would like to play trains after. And we would like to open that up to the public by opening once the ground works are complete. We plan to open around noon on 25th May.

This week has been one of those moments that reminds us what community spirit is really about at Polegate Oaks Miniature Railway.

Last Sunday, we were incredibly surprised and grateful to receive a kind donation from local group Stringles Acoustic Harmony Group.

John and his wife stopped by the railway before heading away to Spain, taking the time to explain how their 4-piece group performs for charity and supports local causes across the Polegate and Hailsham area. To think our little railway was chosen as one of those causes genuinely means a lot to everyone involved with PADMEC.

Then today, another example of community kindness appeared completely out of the blue.

The Thursday Gang have been battling the endless challenge of landscaping and maintaining the site with only a small number of members available. One of our members, Tom, got chatting with the team from ACE Landscapes, who were working nearby in the recreation ground.

“The boss said yes. The boss said no charge. They both had sugar in their tea.”

In a matter of minutes, the team transformed areas we had been struggling to keep on top of and made a huge difference to the site.

It might seem like small acts to some, but to clubs like ours, these moments mean everything.

Whether it’s donations, practical help, volunteering, spreading the word, or simply coming down for a ride, every bit of support helps keep this community railway alive for future generations.

So this week, we simply wanted to say thank you.

The countdown continues to our next open afternoon, 2 days to go... Our club members will be down the track from 11am getting everything ready. If you would like to find out how the railway comes together ready to run or are interested in becoming a member , just pop along and say 'hello'.
