🥕What can go into your Food Waste Bin in Wealden District Council

Food waste makes up around 30% of household rubbish. Recycling it will help reduce waste, protect the environment and free up space in your bin.

✅ YES PLEASE
Cooked and uncooked food waste
▪ All uneaten food and plate scrapings,
▪ Meat, fish and bones,
▪ Dairy products,
▪ Eggs,
▪ Tea bags and coffee grounds,
▪ Rice and pasta,
▪ Beans,
▪ Bread, cakes and pastries,
▪ Fruit, vegetables and peelings.

Remember to put your mouldy and out of date food in your food waste bin, but don't forget to remove the packaging!

▪ Liquids (e.g. milk),
▪ Non-food waste,
▪ Packaging of any kind.

Don't forget to keep the lid closed! Use the handle to lock your food waste bin when outside.

It’s back-to-school week 🎒
Wealden’s Back to School Support Fund has reopened today for final applications. With 93% of the funding already committed, check whether you qualify and apply as soon as possible.
The fund will close on 8 September, or sooner if all available funding is committed.

From today, children and pregnant women can get their flu vaccinations ahead of winter.

Children aged 2 and 3 can get vaccinated at their GP surgery, while most school-aged children will be offered the vaccine at school.

Pregnant women can speak to their maternity team, GP practice or community pharmacy about getting vaccinated.

TEMPORARY WORKS NOTICE UPDATE
Please note that the improvement works at Polegate Recreation Ground have been postponed and will now take place next week, rather than from 7 September as previously advertised.
The works are expected to last approximately 3 days.
During this period:

❌ Outdoor Gym closed
❌ Basketball Court closed
❌ Recreation Field closed
❌ Car Park closed
❌ Toilets, including the Changing Places Toilet, closed

👞 Adult Beginners Tap Dance
📅 Wednesdays | 12 noon – 1pm
📍 The Activity Room
Fancy giving tap dancing a go? This new class is perfect for adults who are completely new to tap or looking to get back into it. Come along, learn some new steps and have fun!

💃 Beginners Line Dancing
📅 Thursdays | 6.15pm – 7.15pm
📍 The Activity Room
Get moving, learn some fun routines and enjoy a great evening of dancing. No previous experience needed – beginners are very welcome!
