As many of you will know, my ward colleague, Sam Trask, has recently stepped down from his role after relocating from our community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sam for his commitment and service to our area, and wish him and his family every success for the future.

With that in mind, I wanted to congratulate Joel James on being selected to stand as our Welsh Conservatives candidate in the upcoming by-election and ask you kindly to offer him your support.

I’ve known Joel for many years and have seen first-hand his commitment to our local community. 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗿, 𝗝𝗼𝗲𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

What stands out most about Joel is that he is deeply rooted in the area he wants to represent. A proud Llantwit Fardre resident, he lives here, is raising his young family here, and serves as the Community Councillor for Efail Isaf. He understands the priorities and challenges facing our villages because they are the same ones he and his neighbours experience every day.

Over recent years, Joel has worked alongside me and our local team on issues that matter to residents, including concerns around:

* Home to School Transport arrangements
* Changes to bin collection services
* The future of Garth Olwg Care Home

At every stage, Joel has focused on what is best for our community—standing up for local services, protecting green spaces, and ensuring residents’ voices are properly heard in decision-making.

That is why I am pleased to support Joel James, and I hope you will consider doing the same. By doing so, you will be electing someone I already have a great relationship with, has a strong delivery record and who has constantly championed our community, and not just when there is an election due.

So, Ive been busy outside of my council duties recently, training to drive one of TfW’s new Metro tram trains…..

But closer to home, following our successful campaigning, local bus services to Pontypridd have an increased frequency and new destinations added…

We are delighted to announce that Cerys Walker has been selected as the Welsh Conservative candidate for the Treorchy CBC By-Election on 25th June.

Over the coming weeks, Cerys will be out and about across Treorchy, listening to residents and discussing the issues that matter most to them.
