Thousands of patients could benefit from a new ‘rapid’ immunotherapy injection, now available at Sunderland Royal Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and North Tyneside General Hospital.

The treatment can be delivered in just minutes, helping improve patient experience and efficiency across the NHS.

Despite the busiest month on record for A&E, health and care teams across the North East and North Cumbria delivered real progress this winter.

👏 A fantastic milestone for the Workington Community Diagnostic Centre and another example of the strong impact Community Diagnostic Centres are having across the region.

Delivering over 30,000 appointments in under a year is an incredible achievement, improving access to tests, reducing pressure on hospitals and giving patients quicker, more convenient care closer to home.

It builds on the momentum already seen through the success of the Metrocentre Community Diagnostic Centre and shows how sustained investment in community diagnostics is improving patient experience and outcomes across the North East and North Cumbria.

Over 30,000 diagnostic appointments delivered in under a year at the CDC in Workington.

Our Community Diagnostic Centre is transforming how people access vital tests like MRI, CT, ultrasound, echocardiograms and lung function checks.

By moving diagnostics out of busy hospitals and into a modern, purpose‑built community setting, we’re helping patients get answers sooner and reducing waiting times across the county.

Patients are already feeling the difference ,from shorter waits to easier parking and a calmer environment.

And we’re not stopping. With plans to deliver up to 4,000 tests every month, plus new Urology and Upper GI services coming soon, we’re bringing even more care closer to home.
