The Soil Solution at UNCCD COP17 | Mongolia

We are always present in the rooms where land, food and ecosystem systems policies are discussed and this time we will be present in Mongolia through Abdoul Aziz Sidibe, from our Operations Department. Abdoul Aziz, is currently undergoing a DryNet–UNCCD Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) Fellowship and will be participating in the two-week UNCCD COP17 programme.

Giving the value of the event; before his departure, Mr. Sidibe was well prepared by our management as usual to make sure he is able to represent us and our beneficiaries as young professionals and land restoration practitioners and provide local experience to policymakers, scientists, and global stakeholders working to accelerate action towards Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) and sustainable land management.

At The Soil Solution, we believe that investing in young professionals is essential to building the next generation of African leaders in soil health, land restoration and sustainable food systems.

We wish Abdoul Aziz Sidibe a successful fellowship and a productive COP17 experience. We look forward to seeing him bring back new knowledge, partnerships and opportunities to strengthen our work for healthy soils, restored landscapes and resilient communities.

LAND DEGRADATION NEUTRALITY (LDN) AND RESTORATION FELLOWSHIP;

We are proud to celebrate a major milestone for The Soil Solution as one of our Operation Officers, Abdul Aziz Sidibe, continues to amplify the voices of farmers, youth, and local communities from The Gambia on the global stage, through the Global Environment Facility (GEF)-supported mentorship programme under the Civil Society for Land Degradation Neutrality Project, implemented by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in partnership with DryNet and Both ENDS.

Abdul Aziz, has strengthened his ability to connect grassroots experiences with international land restoration policies.

Speaking at one of the Fellowship Sessions, he shared how the mentorship has empowered him to transform local challenges into policy messages that influence global decision-making. “The mentorship is helping me connect my field work with farmers in The Gambia to broader global discussions on land restoration" he said; Today, I am able to bring the perspectives of farmers, youth, and local communities from The Gambia into international conversations.” Abdul concludes.

At The Soil Solution, we believe that restoring land starts with empowering communities. Every farmer, every young person, and every local initiative has a role to play in building resilient landscapes and sustainable livelihoods.

Together, we are proving that local solutions can shape global policies because land is life.

The Soil Solution at the 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW9) – Abuja, Nigeria

The Soil Solution is proud to have its Executive Director representing the organization at the 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week (AASW9) in Abuja, Nigeria. In addition to serving as the Youth in Agrifood Systems Performance Index (YAPI) National Lead Advisor for The Gambia, he is participating in the YAPI Report Launch and Stakeholder Engagement Sessions, contributing to critical discussions on youth inclusion, agrifood systems transformation, and agricultural development across Africa.

Throughout the week, our Executive Director is actively engaging in a range of high-level side events as a panelist, speaker, and contributor, sharing The Soil Solution's experiences and perspectives on sustainable soil management, climate-smart agriculture, food systems resilience, youth empowerment, and evidence-based agricultural innovation.

As Africa's agricultural stakeholders gather to shape the future of the continent's agrifood systems, The Soil Solution remains committed to fostering partnerships, promoting sustainable land management practices, and advancing solutions that empower farmers, strengthen food security, and create opportunities for young people in agriculture.
