You’ve heard the allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner. But here’s a question nobody’s asking — if the other two Election Commissioners genuinely disagree with the decisions, why aren’t THEY coming forward to say it publicly? 🤔
On Sept 23, an Indian Express investigation reported that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi formally recorded objections at least 14 times in 10 months — on SIR, voter deletions, appeals, and control of the electoral database. Some decisions, they reportedly noted, were taken without their knowledge.
Important: no whistleblower came forward. This is sourced reporting based on internal ECI records — and IE hasn’t said how it got them. Both commissioners have stayed completely silent.
So why the silence? Two reasons 👇
1️⃣ Convention — the ECI speaks as an institution, not through individual members.
2️⃣ The structural one: removing a CEC is extremely hard (judge-like protection). But an Election Commissioner can be removed on the CEC’s recommendation. Their position is structurally weaker.
ECI’s response: written notes are “normal internal process,” and all decisions had all three commissioners’ concurrence. Note — they didn’t deny the notes exist.
Opposition: Rahul Gandhi alleged “100% rigging”; Priyanka Gandhi and Mamata demanded the CEC’s resignation.
BJP: Sudhanshu Trivedi’s counter was essentially the same question we opened with — if the commissioners never said anything publicly, what’s the basis for the allegation?
So it comes back to this: until those two speak, this question stays open.
